People really change! Helmeppo is definitely the best bro. That said, Coby and Helmeppo's training looks hellish, but it definitely seems fun. The transformation of these two is simply amazing.

Continues the training arc with emotional undertones. It builds future relevance subtly.

You really see how much Coby and Helmeppo changed when they were holding those training swords against Garp, even though they were totally covered in bruises and their clothes were shredded

I was so moved seeing Coby struggle through those extra pushups at night while everyone else was sleeping and he just wants to reach Luffy's level

I can't believe how much I care about Helmeppo now after he was such a total jerk back at the start, and watching him join Coby's midnight training really got to me. It was so cool seeing them stand up to Vice Admiral Garp and admit they are still friends with Luffy even after seeing that thirty million bounty in the paper

Garp is such a beast for punching those kids and then laughing about it while he offers to train them in a literal hell at Marine Headquarters

It is crazy how Helmeppo went from being a spoiled brat to training all night under the moon just so he could keep up with Coby and Garp

I actually felt bad for Coby and Helmeppo when Garp hit them with those fists of love and it was so brutal seeing them scrub floors until their hands were raw but they just kept going

You can tell Coby is going to be a high ranking marine because he didn't even flinch when Garp asked him about Luffy and he just shouted that they are friends

Rika crying because she could not say goodbye to the boys in Shells Town was so sad and they better actually become heroes

That final salute to Garp at the end felt so earned after everything they went through and now they are finally on the path to being real Marines

I never thought I would actually care about Helmeppo but seeing him decide to join Coby for that extra training at night was huge and they really are a team now and Garp is a total beast too and I love how he just decided to make their lives a living hell for their own good because Luffy really changed their lives forever

It was so wholesome seeing Luffy and Zoro laugh at the newspaper, especially since they can see how far Coby has come since the beginning

Garp knowing the whole time that they were friends with Luffy was a great twist and he just wanted to see if they had the guts to be honest

The training montage with them scrubbing floors and then lifting weights was actually super inspiring and they are working so hard to catch up to the crew

I really respect Coby for standing his ground when Garp asked about Luffy, because that could have ended his whole career right there

Rika crying in Shells Town because she missed the boys was so sad and she just wanted to give them the lunch she made

Helmeppo went from being the most annoying kid ever to actually training at night and it is wild how much a little Luffy influence changes people

I am still laughing at Garp just whaling on those kids with the fist of love and he really does not hold back at all

Coby and Helmeppo seeing Luffy with that massive thirty million bounty was such a great moment and they looked so shocked but proud at the same time

EPISODE CONTEXT

Picking up directly from Episode 68's introduction to Coby and Helmeppo's Marine enlistment, this episode deepens their training arc under Vice-Admiral Garp and solidifies their ambitions within the military hierarchy. It serves as a bridge between the previous adventure and the Straw Hat Pirates' arrival at Little Garden starting in Episode 70, offering a meaningful pause that expands the world beyond Luffy's crew.
