Robin looked completely shaken after hearing the truth about the toy soldiers and we are all right there with her after that flashback reveal

Sugar has the most terrifying power in this world because being turned into a toy and forgotten by everyone you love is a fate worse than dying

I still feel sick after seeing King Riku forced to kill his own people like that and Doflamingo is the most disgusting villain in this series for pulling those strings
megumin_mage_148's avatar
megumin_mage_148
Doflamingo is easily the most twisted villain yet, because forcing a kind ruler like King Riku to butcher his own people is just pure evil. My heart broke when the citizens started hating the man who was actually trying to save them. The way he manipulated the whole country into calling him a hero makes my skin crawl, and I hate him for it

Red tinting during the flashback made the whole thing feel so much more violent and hopeless when the soldiers started turning on the crowds

Violet joining the crew that ruined her life just to save her dad hit me so hard and it reminded me way too much of what Nami went through with Arlong
kaminari_chargebolt_126's avatar
kaminari_chargebolt_126
Doflamingo setting up the king to look like a murderer while he swoops in to play the hero is pure psychological torture for the entire island

King Riku was crying while his body moved on its own to kill his soldiers, and it perfectly shows how Doflamingo uses people like literal puppets

The amount of blood shown tonight was actually surprising for this show and it really drove home how brutal Doflamingo was from the start

Doflamingo just laying waste to Dressrosa like that was genuinely shocking, and I couldn't believe how casually he obliterated everything. Sugar's power, taking away people's entire existence from memory, feels so much worse than any physical harm; I can't imagine living as a toy with everyone forgetting you ever existed, just like poor King Riku.

I feel sick after seeing the toys lose their families and nobody even remembers they existed because of that fruit power
mamoru_chiba's avatar
mamoru_chiba
The sight of King Riku forced to slash his own people while crying was actually traumatizing and Doflamingo is really just a monster for making a father destroy his own kingdom like that
pamela's avatar

I seriously cant get over the part where the toy soldier remembers his family but they have no idea who he is because that memory erasure is the most twisted thing in this whole show
kappa_king's avatar

King Riku being used as a literal puppet to murder his own villagers was the hardest thing to watch in this arc and it makes Doflamingo look like the actual devil

Sugar has the most terrifying fruit in the whole series because being turned into a toy and having my own family forget I exist is a special kind of nightmare

Those silhouettes with the glowing eyes as Doflamingo took over the city were so creepy and it really shows how much of a nightmare that night was for everyone in Dressrosa

Watching King Riku cry while Doflamingo forced him to slash his own people and the way everyone started hating their hero was just so hard to see

The way the citizens turned on Riku so fast after he spent his whole life protecting them was the most frustrating part of the flashback and Doflamingo is a genius monster

You really have to feel for Rebecca and her family after seeing the absolute hell they went through that night, and Doflamingo playing the hero afterward is just next level evil
geordo_stuart's avatar
geordo_stuart
That devil is actual scum for how he played the whole country and made himself look like a savior while using his strings to turn the palace into a literal slaughterhouse

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 660 directly continues the deep dive into Dressrosa's hidden past that began in Episode 659, 'A Horrible Past! The Secret of Dressrosa,' expanding on the kingdom's fall under Doflamingo's ruthless scheme. This backstory segment is critical infrastructure for the Dressrosa arc, establishing the emotional and narrative stakes that fuel every major confrontation ahead. By grounding the audience in King Riku's tragedy and Doflamingo's cruelty, the episode ensures the coming battles carry genuine weight beyond spectacle.
