I don’t know how to feel about this episode. It gave Usopp focus, which I liked, but it felt unnecessary to the overall story and arc. It made the pacing feel a bit dragged.

This episode gave Usopp the spotlight. It was entertaining, and I liked the premise of this episode, though it felt a bit irrelevant story-wise.

This was a filler episode but surprisingly good, giving Usopp time to shine. I appreciated his sniping skills more here—he’s honestly underrated.

A grounded, personal conflict that reinforces courage and legacy. The resolution feels sincere and character-driven.

usopp gets his moment to prove himself against a bounty hunter with ties to his dad, and it's a nice little character beat but nothing essential to the main story, one of those anime-only episodes that's fine to watch once but easy to skip on a rewatch

This episode is about Usopp, Yasopp, and Daddy. Skip if you don't want to know their connections and backstory. I just don't understand why carry 30 pistols, it doesn't make sense.

Nice redemption, Usopp! What started as disappointing turned into a very nice showdown. It shows how much Usopp has grown. Overall, just okay—a good filler, I’d say.

Daddy Masterson was such a cool addition for a filler episode, and hearing about his history with Yasopp really fleshed out Usopp's background because it made so much sense that Yasopp wouldn't just kill a guy with a kid waiting for him at home, and seeing Usopp finally hit that weather vane after almost running away felt like he was finally growing up

Yasopp sparing Daddy because of the picture of his daughter was such a great way to show what kind of man usopps dad really is

Usopp almost begging for his life was painful to watch but his aim with that slingshot at the end was undeniable

learning that Daddy Masterson was a marine who lost to Yasopp in a duel was a cool way to build some history for Usopp

Zoro betting his arm against that cursed sword and then getting two blades for free was so intense and really made me respect his character more

i really liked the way usopp won those sniper goggles and it showed he actually has the skills for being a pirate

I loved seeing Yasopp in that flashback and it makes me respect him more as a sniper and his mercy toward Daddy really changed things for that guy

Those North Blue goggles are going to look so good on Usopp and it is about time he got some real gear for the Grand Line

Nami running to save Usopp only to find him in a formal duel in a cemetery was hilarious and the tension when he took that final shot was really well done

Daddy Masterson has a cool design for a filler character and seeing him break down in tears over those goggles from his daughter was surprisingly sweet

I was honestly getting annoyed with Usopp begging for his life but the way he turned it around after hearing about his father was amazing and it really changed my mind about him

Smoker sitting there in all that smoke waiting for Luffy to show up is cool and you can tell Loguetown is going to be a big deal for the crew

I know this is technically filler but it really does not feel like it at all. Getting to see Usopp earn those goggles while learning about his dad was such a good choice. It actually makes the world feel bigger when characters have shared history like Daddy and Yasopp do, and seeing Usopp stand his ground at the end was so satisfying and earned

EPISODE CONTEXT

This filler episode slots between the Loguetown crew-focused vignettes — following Episode 49's Zoro-centric sword acquisition and Marine encounter, and preceding Episode 51's Sanji culinary face-off. It's part of a stretch of character spotlight episodes that give each Straw Hat a moment before the crew's East Blue saga reaches its climax. Skippable for plot purposes, but it enriches Usopp's arc heading into what comes next.
