Sabo having parents that would hire pirates just to drag him back home is actually sickening and it makes sense why he wants to be free with Luffy and Ace instead

My stomach dropped seeing Ace absolutely lose it when Luffy just casually dropped the Roger bomb; it really drives home for me how much Ace despises his lineage, especially compared to Sabo who just wants to run from his noble family. Having Naguri around to guide them felt right though, like he truly understands the weight of their past after living through the old era himself.

It's so precious seeing Ace, Sabo, and Luffy just being kids, living free in the forest, but my stomach drops knowing Sabo's noble background constantly threatens their entire secret world. I just get this awful feeling that their simple, happy days are numbered because of it.

luffy just hearing that ace is the son of the pirate king and literally not giving a single crap is the most luffy thing ever and it makes their bond feel so real

Ace's rage at the mention of Roger really got to me; you could tell it wasn't just anger but a deep, inherited pain for a father he never even met. I wonder if Sabo's yearning to be free stems from seeing how burdened Ace is by that legacy, and not just from his own noble struggles.

The way Luffy wants to be an apprentice to an old man from the trash just because he fought Roger is such a classic Luffy move and Naguri seems like a cool guy

People say this is filler but Sabo being a noble is definitely important and I wonder how he even ended up hanging out with Ace and Luffy in the first place

Naguri seems like a total legend for surviving a fight with Roger and him being so chill reminds me of how Shanks acts around Luffy back in the village

I can't believe Luffy just blurted out that secret, seeing Ace get that upset about Roger really hurts after everything we saw at Marineford

The animation on the kids is kind of weird because their heads look like giant balloons and it makes the serious scenes with Ace being mad about his dad feel a bit silly

Luffy just casually dropping that Roger is the dad of Ace while everyone was standing there was so funny because the look on Ace's face was pure shock and Sabo looked like he wanted to hide

Whoa, Naguri actually *fought* the Pirate King? Hearing him drop that bombshell, even living in a dump now, just blew my mind and made me think about all the insane legends out there beyond the Grand Line.

Ace's deeply personal struggle with his heritage here really solidified for me why he pushed himself so hard and loved Luffy so fiercely. Thinking about all the heartache that little guy would go through later, it just makes me appreciate how truly irreplaceable that bond with Sabo and Luffy was for him.

Hearing the locals talk about Roger like he was some kind of monster really puts the weight of Ace's name into perspective

Naguri losing to Roger but still respecting him shows how much of a legend the Pirate King really was and seeing someone actually use conquerors haki like that was unexpected

The trio hunting giant animals and talking about their pirate dreams is the kind of stuff that makes the flashback arc worth it

It is so rough to see Ace go completely quiet while people insult Roger because it shows just how much he carries on his shoulders, and it really makes you want to reach into the screen for him

Luffy being a total idiot and blurting out that Ace is the son of the Pirate King is hilarious and shows how simple he is

I felt so bad for Ace when he looked so broken hearing everyone call Roger a demon and his face just says it all

Sabo trying to balance out the group while Ace is brooding makes the whole brotherhood feel so much more real and the way they hunt together is fun to watch

EPISODE CONTEXT

This filler episode continues the extended flashback into Luffy, Ace, and Sabo's childhood, building on their previous episode where they established a shared hideout. It deepens the brotherhood dynamic while introducing Naguri as a narrative device connecting the boys to the legacy of the Pirate King. The episode sets the stage for further childhood adventures and character development before the main storyline resumes.
