This was a great episode to set up the arc. I loved the story progression and the lore drops. The significant scenes and new faces made it really interesting.

Why does Smoker have to be so “smokey”? 👀 Lol. This episode dropped heavy lore that made things more intriguing. One specific moment really stood out and felt important.

A significant location introduction loaded with historical weight. The atmosphere carries a sense of destiny.

logue town is such a vibe, you can feel the weight of where gol d roger was executed as luffy just casually walks up to the same platform. the zoro and tashigi introduction hits different knowing his backstory with kuina, and smoker entering the scene immediately raises the stakes

New intro in this episode. Smoker is the first Navy I've seen that is good to the villagers. Luffy asking a Navy for directions is a brave move , or should I call it foolish? It's also a backstory of Gold Roger, that created a history and changes everything.

Now we’re off to an interesting start. We get to see the legend of Roger and his shadow over Luffy. Also, Kuina’s shadow on a mysterious girl? Is she somehow related to her? Pretty good episode—the threshold to the Grand Line feels epic.

Seeing that girl Tashigi look exactly like Kuina had to be the biggest shock for Zoro and his face just says everything about how much that messed with his head

The ghost of the Pirate King sitting where Luffy was really made the hair on my arms stand up and it shows how much Luffy carries that spirit

Watching Smoker turn into actual smoke when that pirate tried to hit him was wild and it makes you wonder how anybody is even supposed to fight a guy like that

Smoker giving that kid money for a new ice cream cone caught me off guard because he looks so mean with those two cigars but he actually seems like a decent guy for a Marine

I was really surprised by Smoker giving that girl money for her ice cream and it shows he isn't just another corrupt Marine like Morgan was in the beginning

Hearing that no pirate has ever escaped this town since Smoker took over makes the stakes feel much higher for the crew

The pacing felt a bit slow while they were all shopping but that giant skull on the counter in the bar was a cool detail to see

You have to feel for Zoro when he sees that girl with the glasses because his whole past just came back to haunt him in the middle of a weapon shop

I found the conversation in that dusty old bar so fascinating, because it finally grounded the whole Pirate King legend for me. Seeing Luffy just casually drink his milk while Raoul describes the most dangerous man in history felt right. It really hit me when the old man saw Roger's image, overlapping with Luffy's face in the dark and cold basement

The flashback to Roger laughing at his own execution is so haunting and it makes you realize why everyone is so obsessed with the Grand Line

Smoker is such a different kind of marine and seeing him turn his whole body into smoke to stop those thugs, was actually intimidating

I felt a lot of weight when Luffy reached the execution platform and it is wild thinking about how the entire pirate age started right on those stairs

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the emotional high of the Arlong Park arc and Nami's liberation, this episode marks the final pit stop before the crew commits to the Grand Line. Logue Town functions as a narrative threshold — the last taste of the East Blue — while introducing Captain Smoker as a credible new obstacle. Everything here is setup for the confrontations and departures that will define the crew's entry into far more dangerous waters.
