It is bizarre how easily sanji and zoro got caught in some basic nets just to make the amigo pirates look like a threat

The boss beetle is kind of cute and seeing the straw hats defend the little east blue village makes for a decent distraction

The whole episode feels like an ad for a movie and the plot about shiki and the beetle does not go anywhere yet

When that place popped up, looking so much like East Blue, I actually felt a pang of nostalgia for the crew, even knowing it was just a filler island. It kinda made me wonder if they felt it too, seeing a glimpse of home after all this time.

Largo using nets to trap Luffy and Zoro felt cheap and I did not buy it for a second because they are way stronger than that

It is pretty obvious this is just a big commercial for the movie since they keep mentioning Shiki and the animation quality is suddenly way higher than last week. You can see the effort they put into the visuals for Little East Blue and I liked seeing the crew relax in a place that looks like home but Largo is such a weak villain.

The way this episode ends makes the movie look interesting because of that whole connection to Shiki and the beetle sticking up for everyone was great

I felt so bad for Boss getting targeted by the amigo pirates just because Shiki wants him and seeing the beetle fight back to save luffy was the highlight for me

The colors and the background art in little east blue are so pretty to look at and it makes the wait for impel down a bit easier even if the villains are boring

I actually really liked Boss the beetle coming to the rescue, it was a nice change of pace to see a bug saving the monster trio from those spiked nets.

Largo using nets to tie up the main three fighters was such a weird move and you would think they could just break out without needing help from a giant beetle

Watching Luffy and Sanji and Zoro get trapped by some random pirate with nets was honestly embarrassing and it felt like they were nerfed just to make the filler plot move forward
deku_285's avatar

The animation for this filler looks way better than the usual episodes and you can really tell they want everyone to go watch the movie because of that Shiki name drop at the end
thunderblight_ganon_298's avatar

Yoko feels like every other little girl the straw hats have met on filler islands and her story with the beetle just did not hit the same way the canon stuff does
prince_demande_379's avatar

I can't believe Largo caught the three strongest guys in nets like they are actual fish and it really annoyed me seeing Luffy stuck in those spikes while a beetle had to do the work

These Amigo Pirates feel like bootleg versions of actual villains, and the whole conflict with the giant beetle feels way too forced just to give the viewers some action before the movie starts.

Luffy refusing to stay down even when he was completely trapped by those nets was the best part and he really cares about Boss and Yoko despite only knowing them for ten minutes

Largo using his weird net power to trap Boss and Luffy felt so cheap and annoying and watching these fillers just to see the movie feels like a chore when the villains are this lame
kodama_king's avatar

Boss the beetle is surprisingly cool and it makes sense why Shiki wants him for his plan because that bug looks like a total beast

I usually skip filler but since this leads into Strong World I figured I would give it a chance today and the Little East Blue island is a nice nostalgic touch and I liked seeing the crew relax before the chaos started but Largo and his net powers are kind of a letdown though and I hope the movie villains are more interesting

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode sits in the middle of the Little East Blue filler arc, a promotional mini-arc created to build hype for the 'One Piece: Strong World' movie. Episode 427 established the Amigo Pirates' threat and the stakes for Little East Blue's residents, while this episode escalates the conflict and sets the stage for the climactic showdown between Luffy and Largo in Episode 429.
