It was a total shock to find Buggy in the middle of this prison, but I loved how he stayed just as loud and angry as he was the first time we met him.

The Hannyabal guy is way too annoying and his constant jokes about wanting to be the warden ruined the dark atmosphere of the prison for a bit

You see Hancock turning everyone to stone just by walking past and it is the perfect distraction for Luffy to start his crazy mission inside that nightmare prison

Ace and Garp bickering over Roger's legacy really got to me, seeing all that deep family history come flooding back. I can't help but feel for Garp, trying to reconcile his duty with his love for his grandson, and it makes me think Ace's defiance might just be a front for deeper struggles with his own identity.

The scale of Impel Down is so creepy and you can really feel how much trouble Luffy is in with only 33 hours left until the execution

Hannyabal is such a weird character because he looks like a total joke and keeps talking about stealing Magellan's job, but then he suddenly has that serious moment about justice. It makes the prison feel way more dangerous when even the goofy guys have a dark side, and seeing Hancock risk her title just to sneak Luffy in was so intense.

I couldn't stop laughing when Luffy bumped into Buggy in the middle of a high security prison and treated him like an old pal

It really hit me how much Ace hates his dad when they mentioned him using his mothers name Portgas instead and the prison vibe is just so dark

Buggy being the first person we see in this hellish prison is such a weird coincidence and his eventual reunion with Luffy is going to be a total mess

When Luffy just leaped into that giant whirlpool for Impel Down, my jaw literally dropped. I mean, thinking about how tough it's gonna be to get out of that place, it honestly made me wonder if he'd ever see the light of day again.

I am still laughing at how Hancock manages to be so cool and terrifying to the marines while she is secretly melting every time Luffy touches her, it was such a tense moment when she had to hide him under her clothes and I was genuinely worried she would get caught but she pulled it off and now he is actually inside

Hancock is really putting her whole life on the line for Luffy and the risk of her getting caught by the government makes her part so stressful to watch

Hearing that Crocodile and Jinbe are somewhere in those lower levels makes this infiltration feel like a suicide mission and the hype for those encounters is real

That countdown to the execution makes everything feel so heavy and Impel Down looks way more terrifying than any other place they have been before

The atmosphere in this episode is actually depressing, and seeing the flashes of torture inside the cells makes the stakes for Ace feel way more real

I cannot believe Hancock actually snuck Luffy into that prison under her cloak and her face when he left her was honestly so sad

Hancock is carrying this mission on her back right now, and her face when she was distracting those guards was gold. I honestly hope she gets more screen time because her obsession with Luffy is hilarious.

I still can't get over the fact that Ace only has 33 hours left until his execution and Luffy is already running into old enemies like Buggy. This prison feels so oppressive and massive compared to Enies Lobby, but Hancock hiding Luffy in her dress was the funniest thing this show has done in a while. I really need to see them find Ace fast.

The tension of sneaking into a high security underwater prison is crazy and Buggy being the first person Luffy runs into is hilarious That 33 hour limit makes everything feel so much more urgent

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode launches the Impel Down Arc, picking up directly from Luffy's desperate decision to rescue Ace after learning of his scheduled execution. It transitions the story from open seas to a claustrophobic, high-security prison setting, fundamentally shifting the show's tone toward infiltration and survival. Everything here lays the groundwork for one of One Piece's most intense gauntlets, where Luffy will face escalating threats across Impel Down's notorious levels.
