I thought Usopp was done for when that ghost blew up the wall but he just keeps getting back up and fighting through the pain

Seeing Sogeking come back as a voice in Usopp's head was great because it showed how he is trying to get over his own fear while fighting someone as weird as Perona

Moria and Absalom are still doing their own thing but Usopp is the one carrying the episode by being so clever with those impact dials and fake hammers against the ghost girl

I was so confused because the audio on Crunchyroll had the Japanese and English voices playing at the same time and it totally ruined the moment where Usopp finally stood his ground against those ghosts

Usopp really had to dig deep and talk to his own alter ego just to survive Perona and her explosive ghosts. It was weirdly cool seeing Sogeking act like a mentor inside his mind while his actual body was getting tossed around the garden. The way he figured out she was a hollow projection showed he is actually paying attention during these fights.

Usopp putting on the Sogeking mask just to talk to himself was so funny and it actually helped him figure out that Perona was just a ghost projection floating around the room

Usopp's quick thinking with that slingshot shot definitely caught me off guard, but when I saw his Lead Star just phase right through Perona, my jaw dropped. That was such an unexpectedly creepy reveal for what I thought was gonna be a purely comedic fight, and it totally made me wonder what kind of weird powers she actually has.

Perona is so annoying with those negative ghosts but watching Usopp be the only one who can handle them because he is already miserable was the perfect way to use him

Thriller Bark feels like it is taking a long time to get anywhere but the way Usopp uses his tricks and lies to mess with Perona kept this part entertaining

The pacing in this arc is definitely slower than the last one and seeing Usopp get beat up for half the episode was rough but the Sogeking bit made it worth it

perona is actually terrifying with those negative ghosts and it was crazy to see her blowing through brick walls like it was nothing

I lost it when Usopp started hearing Sogeking in his head and it actually gave him the guts to stay in the fight while those mini hollows were exploding all over the place

EPISODE CONTEXT

Deep into the Thriller Bark arc, this episode continues the phase where the Straw Hat crew has split up to face Gecko Moria's lieutenants individually. Usopp's battle against Perona follows the crew's initial encounters with the island's horrors and their decision to fight back. This matchup wraps up one thread while setting the stage for the remaining crew battles to escalate in the episodes that follow.
