Being a mother meant everything to Bellemere for taking in Nami and Nojiko when she had absolutely nothing left, and seeing her skip meals just so they could eat was absolutely heartbreaking. That cliffhanger with the smoke from the kitchen chimney catching Arlong’s eye is terrifying because you know something horrible is about to happen.
