Gin surprised me with his transformation from somewhat unremarkable to terrifying right in front of my eyes. His respect for Sanji added some depth to him that I wasn't expecting. Krieg continues to show himself as someone who would literally do anything to win.

I love and hate this episode at the same time, lol. I like how Gin’s character was carefully portrayed, but I dislike his way of thinking. It was frustrating to empathize with him.

I’m still at odds with Gin’s character. If I were in his position, I don’t know what I would do. Maybe that’s why I keep questioning his principles here. Though he really made this episode engaging for me.

A bit slow-paced for me. I think this fight was somewhat unnecessary, but as it went on, I appreciated how it helped us understand a minor character who became important to the arc.

Focuses on internal conflict and loyalty, giving nuance to an otherwise hostile presence. The tone is reflective yet tense.

this one hits different - watching gin struggle between his loyalty to krieg and his gratitude toward sanji gives the whole fight real emotional weight, and you can feel how torn he is when he has sanji pinned but cant finish it, the baratie arc keeps delivering solid character moments

And we are back into action in this episode. Luffy's way of thinking is kinda funny, makes me say that he is right but he is also he's wrong. He's right about what will happen, but he's wrong about the execution or what he will do. What can I say? It's Luffy we're talking about.

Luffy breaking the deck was such a crazy move and Sanji looked so mad about it but it actually made sense to stop the hostage stuff

I still cant get over Gin crying after he couldnt finish Sanji off because that meal meant everything to him and he just broke down

Luffy catching the poison gas without a mask just to save Gin and Sanji was such a hero moment and he really does anything for people he just met even if it means breathing in that purple smoke

Sanji lighting his last cigarette before the duel felt so cool and his resolve is just insane since he is willing to die for a floating restaurant just because of a debt to Zeff

Seeing everyone scramble for masks while Krieg just stood there was terrifying and then Luffy gave his own mask away and that kid is way too selfless and it hurts to watch

Luffy smashing the Baratie deck just to take away Krieg's leverage was such a smart move and it shows he really understands how to fight for his friends

Sanji's refusal to let go of the Baratie even while Pearl was beating him to a pulp shows his devotion is on another level and the animation really captured that struggle

Gin turning on Pearl to protect Sanji was such a massive shock and it really complicates the whole fight since he still has to serve a monster like Krieg

I honestly couldn't believe Luffy just gave up both masks to Sanji and Gin and then took that poison gas straight to the face without even flinching, and watching him stand there in the purple smoke while his skin started changing color was heavy, especially since Krieg was just laughing while his own subordinates were dying in the water around him

That transition from Gin being a literal demon to him sobbing on the floor was intense and it really hammers home how much a single meal meant to him in that moment

My heart sank when Krieg pulled out that MH5 poison gas and seeing his own crew scramble in terror just proves how much of a coward that guy really is beneath the armor

Breaking the deck to save Sanji from himself was such a weird move by Luffy, but it actually makes sense if you think about Krieg using the ship as leverage

I felt so bad for Sanji getting his ribs cracked by Pearl and then having to face Gin right after while he was already coughing up blood and the man is just way too stubborn

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the emotionally charged revelation of Zeff and Sanji's intertwined dreams, this episode pivots to the fractures within Don Krieg's crew, putting Gin's divided loyalties under a spotlight. It deepens the Baratie arc's central conflict by layering internal betrayal against external threat, raising the personal stakes before the inevitable showdown between Luffy and Krieg. This installment bridges the emotional groundwork of prior episodes with the all-out battle that's about to erupt.
