I was so proud of Chopper for performing that surgery even while he was stuck in a ridiculous mustache disguise

The marines really thought a noogie was the way to break Zoro and his complete lack of concern just makes the g8 arc so much fun

I can't believe how good this filler is compared to most shows because the writing for Commander Jonathan makes him feel like a real threat. Watching Chopper step up to save those marines despite his ridiculous fake mustache was so great and seeing the crew struggle to stay undercover while Luffy keeps almost getting caught is hilarious

Zoro falling asleep while he is literally a prisoner in a marine base is the most on brand thing he has ever done and it was hilarious

Chopper wearing those glasses and a mustache while performing actual medical miracles is exactly why this arc is a classic

Sanji taking over the kitchen and Nami trying to blend in with the cleaning staff shows how well the crew can handle themselves when they get separated in a marine fortress

Seeing Chopper boss around that Marine doctor who is scared of blood is so funny because he really takes his medical oath more seriously than the actual Marines do

This episode confirms that G-8 is the best filler arc because it focuses on the personality of the crew and gives them funny scenarios like the chaotic escape from Navarone

Watching the crew scramble around Navarone while Zoro sits in a cell is such a classic dynamic and it makes this filler feel very authentic

My respect for Commander Jonathan grew a lot this episode because he is the first Marine leader who actually feels dangerous because of his strategy and patience

It is so funny that Zoro ended up behind bars because of Nami since it is exactly the kind of mess he would stumble into while being lost

The way the Marines just accept Chopper as a medical intern is hilarious, especially since he is barely even trying to hide his blue nose

This G-8 arc makes me forget I am even watching filler because the writing for the crew in this Marine base is better than some of the canon stuff

Chopper putting aside his fear of blood just to save those random injured Marines proves he is a great doctor and a good soul

Most filler arcs in this show are a skip, but G-8 is actually good because Commander Jonathan is genuinely clever. He treats the whole situation like a game of chess, and it makes the Straw Hats look like they finally met a Marine who can actually think two steps ahead of them instead of just yelling about justice. It is refreshing to see a villain use his brain for once

I cannot believe Zoro actually got caught because Nami tricked him and he just went along with it like a total idiot

Chopper trying to be a serious doctor while wearing that tiny hat and coat is the funniest thing because none of the Marines even realize he is a reindeer

Usopp mentioning Kaya out of nowhere really adds so much weight to why he is even on this ship and it makes him look way more brave than usual

it felt so weird seeing Chopper teach a human doctor how to do her job and he was taking it so seriously while everyone else was panicking

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode continues the Straw Hat crew's infiltration of the G-8 Marine base, picking up directly after Sanji's undercover antics in the Marine dining hall in episode 197. With the crew scattered and operating independently throughout the fortress, Zoro's capture here escalates the danger and sets the stage for the Marines to intensify their hunt in the following episode, tightening the noose around the remaining Straw Hats.
