A calm before the storm, filled with reflection and anticipation. The emotional contrast heightens what’s about to come.

Nami being a total coward until gold is mentioned is such a classic move and her using her navigation skills to find the city of gold was impressive

Dancing around the fire with a bunch of random wolves made me smile since the crew just accepts any weird situation they find themselves in

Hearing that sky people think dirt is a holy miracle because they have never seen it before makes the shandia struggle feel way more tragic

I could not stop laughing when the straw hats started drinking and dancing with a pack of wolves because it is just so ridiculous and wholesome. It was a good way to relax before the war with enel picks up, and Nami being driven by gold instead of fear when she found the city was great

Robin just sitting there being calm while the wolves dance around her proves how well she fits the group even when things are totally absurd

Hearing about the Shandians and their obsession with Vearth changed the way the conflict looks and it makes the war for the land more tragic

Luffy being bored and wanting adventure while everyone else eats is so typical but the campfire vibes were actually comfy for once

Straw Hats hanging out before a big fight is always good, and Chopper trying so hard to be helpful during the campout was actually really sweet

Nami punching the wolf leader for no reason was hilarious and then they all just started dancing like it was nothing

Usopp and Sanji being idiots around the campfire was exactly what the show needed before everything probably goes wrong with Eneru tomorrow

Gan Fall explaining why dirt is so special to the people in the sky actually makes the fight for Upper Yard feel worth it, and it is pretty rare for this show to slow down and let the characters talk about history but it really helps me care about the Shandians and their struggle while the crew just relaxes by the fire

Watching the crew eat around the fire made the whole Skypiea mission feel personal to me and seeing them just be a family was nice

Nami using her brain to track down that gold shows why she is the heart of the team and her greed just brings the whole crew together

I can't get over the Straw Hats literally partying with giant wolves and it is easily one of the funniest things I have seen in this arc
lauriam_453's avatar

The war between the priests and the Shandorian warriors is still going strong in the background and it makes everything feel way more tense

Hearing about a literal god waiting at the end of the forest has me excited for the next few fights even if Enel was barely in it

Gan Fall needs to finish his story about the history of this place, since you can tell there is a massive secret behind how the Shandorians ended up here

I am still thinking about all the weird wildlife in the jungle and Gan Fall trying to explain the history of Vearth before he got cut off

Usopp using poor Chopper as bait is such a low blow but the reindeer was so amusing with his little internal monologue during the whole mess

EPISODE CONTEXT

Directly following Episode 165's pivot toward the legendary city of gold, this episode functions as the classic calm-before-the-storm beat, giving the crew one last moment of unity before the real danger hits. It bridges the crew's initial discovery and preparation with the formidable adversaries awaiting them in Episode 167 and beyond. Skipping it means missing key emotional groundwork that pays off when the stakes escalate.
