A celebratory cooldown that reinforces bonds. The relief feels earned.

I can't believe King Cobra was actually peeping with the boys and it felt so weird after all the serious stuff he went through with Crocodile

the straw hats really know how to throw a party, and seeing them all together in the palace was a great way to wind down after Crocodile

seeing the new high bounties for Luffy and Zoro at the end felt like a huge reward after all that fighting and it shows the world is noticing them now

the world government trying to hide that pirates saved the country is so frustrating and Smoker being the only one with actual honor is why he is the coolest marine

I laughed so hard when Nami charged everyone money for the happiness punch because she never lets an opportunity to get rich pass her by even in a bathhouse

watching Luffy stuff his face at the palace banquet was hilarious, and it was nice to see everyone finally relax after that massive desert war

Zoro lifting those massive weights even after almost dying against Mr 1 shows how insane his drive is and everyone else is just partying while he gets stronger

I honestly started getting a bit teary during the credits when that Family song started playing and it showed all the Alabasta memories because it really makes you realize how much this crew has been through together and seeing them just eat and act like idiots at the palace made the ending of this arc feel so much more real for me

King Cobra joining those guys to spy on the bathhouse was actually so weird and it felt like it ruined his whole serious king character for a bad joke

Chopper trying to act tough while being so happy about people liking him is the funniest thing and he was acting so crazy during the banquet part

I am still thinking about Smoker telling the government to eat it because he knows he didnt take down Crocodile and seeing his integrity there actually made the episode for me

That banquet scene felt so rewarding after seeing the desert struggle for so many episodes and seeing the crew just being idiots together again is great

The shift from the intense war to this big party was needed, and seeing everyone so full of food really shows how hard they fought.

The way the government is just going to lie and say the marines saved the day is frustrating but Smoker having some honor left is cool

Zoro training even during a royal banquet shows how hard he works and his new bounty is totally earned

I really felt for Vivi having to choose between her kingdom and the crew because she clearly loves both so much but Alabasta needs her help to rebuild now and it was a perfect way to wind down the arc and seeing Luffy and Zoro get those huge new bounties at the end makes the stakes feel so much bigger

Nami charging everyone for the happiness punch is such a classic move and the way all the guys just fell over was hilarious

King Cobra having a nosebleed over his own daughter was a bit weird, and it kind of ruined the nice bath scene for me.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 128 lands squarely in the aftermath of the Alabasta saga's climactic battles, functioning as the emotional cooldown before the crew's inevitable departure. The brutal confrontations with Crocodile and Baroque Works are behind them, and this episode capitalizes on that relief by celebrating the bonds between the Straw Hats and the people of Alabasta — particularly Vivi. It directly sets up the crew's escape from the kingdom, a sequence that will carry significant emotional weight for the arc's resolution.
