Vegapunk’s inventions and Bonney’s reactions had me completely hooked.

the falling feathers at the start were really cool but the pacing felt a bit slow while waiting for the joy boy name drop and i wish we got more of the fight

the way doflamingo was laughing in his cell while the world starts losing it over the broadcast is exactly the kind of chaos he lives for and seeing chouchou again was a nice touch

When Vegapunk dropped that bomb about Joy Boy being the world's first pirate, my jaw totally hit the floor – like, what even *is* history anymore? Seeing Luffy just cackling and having the time of his life fighting that boar right after, it just made me feel like he's truly the living embodiment of that legend, an inherited will just burning through the ages.

i could not stop laughing when luffy turned into a giant top but seeing him hurt his hand on that boar hide made me worried for the crew

Vegapunk calling himself a sinner for creating the Mother Flame adds so much weight to the broadcast, and it makes you realize how much he regrets letting the government weaponize his genius

the thought of the ocean rising by a whole meter because of a weapon is terrifying and you can really feel the panic through all those character cameos

The lore drops are insane, but the pacing felt a bit slow with all those reaction shots of people just staring at screens for half the episode

I still can not get over the fact that Joyboy was actually the first pirate, because it changes everything I thought I knew about the history of the sea. The way the anime showed Luffy bouncing around as Nika while Vegapunk spoke his name felt like destiny, and it honestly made me tear up a little bit seeing Wano react

Hearing that the sea rose by a meter because of an artificial cause is terrifying and it explains why everyone in Water Seven looked so stressed out about the world sinking

The animation during the fight with the giant boar looks decent but the pacing of the broadcast is dragging because we keep cutting to random people reacting to the same news

Seeing that brief silhouette of Imu watching the butterfly while the world falls into panic was such a creepy moment and it shows who is really pulling the strings

Joy Boy being the first pirate ever is actually insane and seeing Luffy literally laughing and bouncing around while Vegapunk describes him makes the whole history feel so grounded since we're watching the successor in action

I can't get over the shot of Im just chilling with a butterfly while the whole world is losing their minds over the news like they really are the final boss

you finally get to hear that name and it changes everything about what a pirate even means in this world and the history just got way more heavy

trunks_traveler_85
Finally getting the name Joy Boy dropped in the anime feels huge because of the music and the way the narrator builds up the tension I think the animation quality was solid during the Luffy versus Warcury segments, and the explanation of the ancient weapons made the stakes feel much higher than when I first heard about the world sinking
rokurokubi_ronin_34's avatar
rokurokubi_ronin_34
that weird winged figure after the blast was super confusing, but it definitely adds a creepy layer to the ancient weapons talk

Vegapunk admitting his first sin was creating the Mother Flame felt so heavy and it really makes you see him as a tragic genius instead of just a scientist

seeing the parallel between luffy bouncing around in gear 5 and vegapunk describing the first pirate really stuck with me, i always suspected it but hearing the name joyboy out loud makes the whole story feel so much bigger now. the way the music swelled during that explanation while luffy laughed at the gorosei felt like everything was coming together at once

that brief shot of im in the flower room was so eerie and you can tell they are the one pulling all the strings behind the scenes

EPISODE CONTEXT

This episode directly follows Vegapunk's shocking prediction of global catastrophe, escalating from warning into full historical disclosure about Joyboy and the origins of piracy. It represents a critical inflection point in the ongoing Vegapunk broadcast arc, transforming scattered Void Century hints accumulated across the entire series into tangible revelations. The stage is now set for deeper exploration of the Void Century's darkest secrets and the existential threat of a world on the verge of sinking.
