Momonosuke hearing Luffy's voice through all that pain was the only bit of hope left and Shinobu needs to get him away from Kaido fast

Kaido coming through the ceiling was terrifying, seeing him stand over Kin'emon made everything feel so hopeless for Momonosuke

I really felt for Kin'emon in those final moments because he lost his best friend and his student in the same room, but he still stood up to Kaido without hesitation. That shot of him with the broken swords facing a literal monster was so heavy and it really shows why the scabbards are so loyal to the Kozuki name

it feels like they are stretching out every single scene and the recap next week is just proof the anime is catching up way too fast

Killing Kanjuro was the only way this could end and seeing Kin'emon stand over him in that bloody room was so heavy

seeing Luffy sink into the dark ocean while Kaido laughed was a massive gut punch and the broadcast made the whole island go quiet

Chopper really pulling through for everyone against those two monsters, Queen and Perospero, while still crying his eyes out just makes me so proud of him. I also totally enjoyed that quick peek at Caesar and the rumble ball's origins, it was a neat little detail that explains so much about how Chopper pushes himself.

the floor piece stuff is dragging so much and we spent way too much time on flashbacks while Kaido is literally murdering people in the attic

I can't believe Kanjuro used Oden like that again and it actually worked for a second because Kiku was too kind to him and my heart just broke for her when she got stabbed

why are we getting more flashbacks about the scabbards right now and the pacing is really slowing down the momentum from the roof fight

The absolute audacity of Kanjuro, wearing Oden's face as he plunged that blade into Kiku, really got under my skin—I was genuinely shocked by how far he'd go. Kin'emon finishing him off felt like a small, desperate cheer leaving my chest, a fleeting moment of justice in an otherwise crushing sequence of events for the samurai.

I am honestly still shaking after watching Kinemon take that hit from Kaido to let Momo escape and that scene with Kiku and Kanjuro already had me in tears, especially when the dragon shows up to finish the job while Kinemon is holding broken swords and this really feels like the lowest point for the alliance and it is terrifying to watch

Chopper crying while trying to punch Queen and getting rained on by those candy arrows was so hard to watch and that little reindeer is putting his entire life on the line

Kanjuro is easily one of the most hated characters right now, especially after using Oden's face like that and taking out Kiku while everyone was vulnerable

I am still trying to process everything that happened in that attic because seeing kinemon have to kill his own friend after that betrayal was just too much for me. The flashbacks showing them all eating together made the present feel so much colder and I really hope this isnt the end for kiku because that apology was devastating to hear

I got chills when Momonosuke said he could still hear Luffy because it gives a tiny bit of hope even though the broadcast says he is dead

Momonosuke hearing voices while his home is literally falling apart around him is such a wild development and it feels like he is the only one who might know Luffy is alive

Kaido looks so massive and scary standing over Kinemon like that and seeing the swords break into pieces really felt like the end for everyone

I was genuinely stressed watching this entire episode because things just kept getting worse for the Scabbards. Seeing Kin'emon stand his ground against Kaido knowing he didn't stand a chance was such a heavy moment for his character. Kanjuro really is a monster for dragging out that performance until the very end and hurting the people who actually loved him.

Kiku getting stabbed because she hesitated is so brutal and the way she apologized for not being strong enough made the whole scene even worse

EPISODE CONTEXT

Coming off the significant setbacks established in Episode 1034, this episode deepens the crisis for the Kozuki alliance as Kaido's forces tighten their grip on the battlefield. It serves as a critical pressure point in the Wano arc's climactic stretch, pushing characters to their lowest before the tide can turn. Episode 1036 builds directly on the desperation seeded here, as the battle intensifies and alliances face their ultimate tests.
