this episode maybe slowed down a little, maybe to let the trauma settle or so. while shinji's new life with misato is a mess then beer cans, trash bags, and a fridge penguin is all over the place. then the flashback where eva goes berserk is straight nightmare fuel. so pacing is deliberate, character work is strong. this is where eva hooks you.

After fighting First Villain Sachiel from Episode 1, The Viewer was surprised that Shinji had a Nightmarish Flashback of how he suffered mentally and was aided by Misato
