This is exciting: Naruto syncs with Gamatatsu with wind style; that is character development for him.

Watching Team Kurenai get trapped in a giant crystal box is frustrating because you know they are just stalling for time until Naruto shows up

It is actually crazy how strong that crystal prison move is because Hinata looked totally stuck in there and I wonder how she gets out. Guren is one of the few filler characters that feels like she actually belongs in the world because her jutsu is so unique and visually interesting even if the pacing is kind of slow right now

You can really tell this is filler when the frog training takes up so much time and Naruto still cannot get it right

I think the crystal release looks so cool and Guren is actually a decent filler villain compared to some others

My favorite part was Naruto meeting Yukimaru again and trying to be a mentor while he still has no idea how to work with his own frogs

Did anyone else just crack up seeing Naruto and Gamatatsu try to get their summoning jutsu together, only for me to then feel genuinely happy when Naruto started to actually get somewhere? Meanwhile, I'm genuinely worried about what Kakashi and the others are gonna do against that crazy Crystal Style user; she's seriously wiping the floor with them, and it makes me wonder if they even have a chance.

My jaw seriously dropped when even the Sharingan was totally useless against Guren's Crystal Release; I mean, I always thought that eye could copy anything, but nope, this power feels genuinely unfair and it makes me wonder how anyone's gonna beat her.

Ugh, I swear, Naruto's naming sense for his jutsus is still so cringey, it honestly makes me want to scream sometimes. But then Guren just went and trapped everyone in that giant crystal labyrinth, and my jaw totally dropped at how intense that cliffhanger was.

My jaw dropped when Guren pulled out that crystal jutsu on Hinata, I mean, how are they gonna get her out of that without her shattering into a million pieces?! But then, right when I was getting all stressed, seeing Naruto and Gamatatsu try to sync up their water style had me actually laughing out loud, it was such a classic Naruto moment that only they could pull off.

Okay, but that crystal labyrinth was seriously gorgeous, right? I was actually kinda surprised by how much this filler arc felt like it could totally fit into the main story, especially with all the creative powers we're seeing. It makes me wonder what other cool jutsus we might've missed out on in other filler episodes.

Hinata really surprised me when she started going all out with her Gentle Fist against those crystal clones, like she finally found her footing in a fight. Then, to just see her get encased in that massive crystal, it felt like all that momentum just got snatched away in an instant, and I couldn't believe it.

Ugh, I swear Yukimaru going on about camellias every five minutes was driving me absolutely nuts; it’s so frustrating when there's an actual, cool fight happening with the leaf ninja against Guren that I'm way more invested in. I just kept wishing they'd cut back to the action already.

Wait, so Kakashi *really* couldn't copy Guren's Crystal Release? That honestly caught me off guard, making me think her bloodline limit is way more unique and powerful than we originally gave her credit for. Then for Hinata to end up completely trapped in crystal right at the very end just felt so unfair to me, especially since it's just a filler cliffhanger.

I swear, Naruto’s jutsu names always crack me up, but "toad water pistol" in the middle of such an intense battle just felt so out of place. It’s classic Naruto to be a total goofball even when things are super serious, and honestly, it just makes me love him more.

Guren's crystal style was seriously intense, just demolishing everything in that forest and making me wonder why such a powerful character is even filler. I felt a real pang of fear watching Hinata totally encased and vulnerable in those crystals, her struggle reminding me of how far she's pushed herself to get stronger.

Guren seriously blew me away when she started turning just *air* into lethal weapons; I haven't seen a filler villain with such a uniquely terrifying ability in a long time. My initial thought was, how are they even going to fight against someone who can weaponize the very atmosphere, especially since it feels like she could legitimately take out the whole squad?

Ugh, my stomach just absolutely dropped when Hinata got stuck in that jade crystal; I swear, my first thought was 'they wouldn't, would they?' because it's filler, and sometimes they actually pull crazy stuff like that. It made me genuinely worried for her, especially since she's usually not in the spotlight like this.

Naruto and Gamatatsu's sync-up had me cracking up, no lie, it was pure chaos and I loved every second. But then I saw their bizarre jutsu actually work against the powerful crystal user, and my brain just short-circuited trying to figure out how *that* was the answer. It's so wild, like, how does something that goofy pull off a win against such a serious threat?

Okay, Guren just nullifying every single elemental jutsu felt absolutely wild to me, like how is that even possible? I can't believe this bloodline limit hasn't come up before now; it's gotta be a huge secret or something because that's just too powerful not to have been mentioned.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 97 continues the anime-original Crystal Style arc, directly following 'The Unseeing Enemy' where Team Kurenai's initial encounter with Guren escalated the stakes. This installment deepens the entrapment scenario and tests the team's resourcefulness before the arc pivots toward 'The Target Appears,' which shifts focus to understanding the enemy's true objectives. It's mid-arc filler content bridging the gap between Shippuden's canonical storylines.
