I can say this is partially all filler and some of it is important. Kakashi with the team Kurenai searching for something, the rest of it, training from Naruto, and some scenes at Konoha

The training scenes with the frogs were so boring and dragged on way too long and there was way too much talking for a filler episode that barely moved the plot forward

Watching Sai try to lie to Naruto was actually pretty funny because he is so bad at it and Naruto saw right through him before heading to talk with Tsunade

I think Guren has one of the coolest abilities in the whole series because that crystal style looks so unique and I love the way Yukimaru plays the leaf while they talk

That Byakugan shot of Hinata at the very end finally got things moving and it is exciting to see the fight between Kakashi and Guren start up next time

It was a bit slow but I liked the emotional scenes with Yukimaru missing his mother and Shino getting his bugs ready to fight that crystal style jutsu

I was seriously so satisfied watching Shino get all his special bugs ready for that crystal-style fight; for me, it just solidified that he's the only one actually taking this mission seriously, which honestly kinda frustrates me considering what's at stake.

Those charms Guren and Yukimaru shared really got to me, symbolizing a connection I honestly didn't expect to care so much about. I'm actually surprised by how invested I've become in Guren's story, especially since her journey feels more gripping and personal than what some of the actual main characters are doing right now, which is pretty wild for a filler arc.

Yukimaru’s unwavering belief in Guren just shattered me when she finally gave him that crystal camellia; I can’t believe how much I’m rooting for her to find some peace, even if this is filler. It's wild seeing her soften after all the evil stuff she's done, which honestly makes me question everything about what "bad" really means in this show.

Ugh, my heart really just ached for Naruto when he was begging Tsunade to let him go; it's so clear he just wants to be there for his friends, you know? It's like, he carries the weight of protecting everyone on his shoulders and it's heartbreaking to see him so powerless.

Ugh, Sai is such a terrible liar, I mean, come on, Naruto totally saw right through him! I was getting so antsy for the story to actually go somewhere, so even though his deception was super obvious, I'm glad it finally pushed things along a bit.

Gamatatsu and Gamakichi trying to pull off a coordinated move with Naruto is just *so* them, and honestly, I gotta wonder how Naruto keeps a straight face through all that chaos. It's hilarious how completely out of sync they are, but it's also kinda sweet how they just keep trying, making their bond with Naruto feel even more unique to me.

When Yukimaru gave Guren his mother's charm, it really hit me how much they've come to rely on each other, even with the village wanting Guren gone. I mean, Guren's always been so tough, but seeing her accept that from him just shows me she's not as cold as she seems, and maybe even yearns for that connection.

Gamatatsu going all out trying to chug that water had me absolutely cracking up, I mean, the dedication is just unreal for such a goofy training method. Honestly, Naruto’s crazy ideas always feel like they’re just going to fail, but then he pulls through and it makes me wonder if there's a method to his madness we all just miss.

I was actually pretty impressed with Shino just chilling and breeding those special bugs to counter crystal style, especially when everyone else was running around yelling. It really shows how he always thinks things through and solves problems in his own unique way, even if he's not the loudest one on the team.

I was actually super surprised by how awesome the Crystal Style looked, especially for a filler arc ability; it actually made me think Guren wasn't just some throwaway villain. She really showed her grit going up against the Leaf, and I kinda respect her for that unwavering loyalty to Orochimaru.

Guren's unexpected shift towards Yukimaru after being so cold felt genuinely surprising to me; I never thought she had it in her to show that kind of deep protectiveness. I'm really curious if this bond is what she's been missing all along, maybe a true purpose that could steer her away from Orochimaru's influence.

Seriously, this arc is moving at a snail's pace, and that whole charm exchange felt so completely out of left field to me, it almost felt like a filler episode disguised as something important. I'm just sitting here wishing we could fast-forward to the real action, you know?

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned between 'A Night of Rain' and 'The Unseeing Enemy,' this filler episode serves as a bridge where rising tensions shift from external threats to internal character conflicts. The strategic and emotional groundwork laid here — particularly around Guren and Naruto — feeds directly into the confrontations that follow. As episode 95 of 500, this falls within a stretch of anime-original content, so manga-only fans can safely skip without losing canonical plot progression.
