You can tell he was already miles ahead of everyone else when he skipped out on classes to get some actual work done

Itachi really sent a shadow clone to the academy just so he could go train for real and that is the most genius move he could have made

The village leaders moving the Uchiha clan to the edge of the woods after the nine tails attack felt so shady and wrong

I cannot believe baby Itachi just mastered the fireball jutsu on his first try when it took everyone else so much longer to learn it

Watching Itachi effortlessly ace the academy and then ditch class with a clone to go train himself made me just shake my head, like, how was he even a child? And my emotions were all over the place seeing him so tenderly shield baby Sasuke during the Nine-Tails attack, because that pure protectiveness really emphasized their bond before everything went so wrong.

I think Danzo was pulling the strings from the very start, and it makes me hate him even more seeing him mess with a literal child

Even as a little kid he was thinking about the meaning of life and death while everyone else was playing in the dirt

Itachi stood there while the village was being destroyed and he looked more calm than some of the adult ninjas running around in a panic

It was crazy watching Fugaku realize they were being watched by the village, and you could tell that was the exact moment things started to break

When Itachi was cradling baby Sasuke during the Nine-Tails attack, my heart just ached. It's so gut-wrenching to see that tenderness, knowing all the pain and tragedy that's gonna unfold between them later on, it just makes me question everything.

I was genuinely shocked seeing Itachi master shadow clones at just seven years old; it makes me think about how much pressure he must've been under even then, way before the Uchiha massacre. While other kids were probably just playing pretend, he was already training to be a ninja, which is just wild to me.

Itachi holding baby Sasuke like that, with so much genuine love, just twists me up inside because I know what's coming. It makes me wonder if he ever looked at his little brother and just wished things could've been different, before he had to make those impossible choices. The pain of it is so clear in retrospect.

When Itachi was revealed to be using shadow clones to ditch classes and secretly master ninja skills as a literal child, it truly made me wonder if anyone at the academy had *any* clue about his real capabilities. I just keep thinking about how utterly isolated he must have felt, operating on such a different plane that his teachers probably never even saw his true potential, let alone understood it.

The slow burn of the Uchiha being pushed to the village outskirts really had me feeling their growing resentment, especially when you see how Danzo just continually pulled strings with that infuriating smirk. I seriously think he thrives on stirring up trouble, and watching him operate always makes me clench my teeth because you just know it's going to end badly for everyone.

Danzo and those elders really got on my nerves, pushing the Uchiha away right after the Nine-Tails attack; it honestly made me wonder if they secretly wanted a conflict to brew. My gut just clenched every time they brought up the police force, knowing what that division would eventually lead to.

Did the elders *really* think pushing the Uchiha into isolation wouldn't backfire, driving them to a coup out of sheer desperation? I just feel so much for Itachi, having to watch his proud father get so lost in his own genius while trying to hold the crumbling peace together, knowing the village essentially set them up for this tragic end.

Itachi, even as a tiny kid, already pondering the profound mysteries of life and death, honestly left me heartbroken because it made me realize his unique, tragic path was forged long before everything else. I just kept thinking about how isolated he must have felt, unable to connect with others who couldn't grasp his depth of thought.

My brain is absolutely stuck on that fireball jutsu scene, and now I totally get why Sasuke always felt like he was living in Itachi's shadow. It really highlighted for me how deeply ingrained that feeling must've been, seeing him literally relegated to the background, and it makes me wonder if he ever truly saw himself as enough after that.

When Itachi used a shadow clone to skip class and train, it really threw me for a loop, even knowing his genius. I mean, my guy was already plotting how to maximize his training as a child, which just makes his entire adult path feel tragically predetermined, doesn't it?

It's genuinely hard to watch Fugaku completely gloss over Sasuke, always praising Itachi without a second glance at his younger son. I can't help but feel a deep sadness for young Sasuke, knowing how that consistent neglect must've planted the seeds of so much pain and his eventual quest for power.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Picking up directly from episode 451's 'Birth and Death,' which established Itachi's early childhood and the scars war left on his psyche, 'The Genius' deepens that foundation by exploring how his exceptional abilities and philosophical nature develop under pressure. This episode sits within a multi-episode Itachi backstory arc in the final stretch of Shippuden, bridging his origins toward episode 453's 'The Pain of Living,' which escalates the moral dilemmas he faces as he grows older.
