It was a decent enough backstory for Pakura but you really start to miss naruto and the main plot when they spend this much time on side characters

You usually expect filler to be garbage but this one actually gave maki a real story and gave a side character a chance to be interesting for once

I actually forgot this was supposed to be filler, because the writing for Pakura and Maki felt so grounded and sad. Seeing Maki try to reach her sensei, while Pakura was blinded by that old village betrayal, really hit hard. It sucks that Naruto isn't in it much, but the sand village politics and that scorch style made up for it

That scorch style is absolutely lethal and seeing those bodies turn into raisins was a lot darker than what you usually get in these side stories

Hearing how the sand village leaders sold Pakura out to the Hidden Mist was just brutal and it makes so much sense why she is this bitter now

The way Pakura died was so messed up, especially since she was a hero and her own people just traded her life for a temporary peace treaty

I thought the way that scorch style just mummifies people instantly was genuinely terrifying and it makes Pakura one of the coolest reanimations yet

Pakura's sacrifice, originally framed as a heroic act, felt truly sickening once I realized the Fourth Kazekage was behind her death. That level of calculated manipulation, using someone’s memory for political gain, just makes me question everything about his leadership and makes him seem utterly ruthless.

I know, I usually skip filler, but this Pakura episode totally surprised me with how much I cared about her tragic past as a sacrifice for the Hidden Mist treaty; it really made me feel for her situation and understand the messed-up history of the Sand village on a deeper level. Plus, Maki trying to snap her out of Kabuto's control was genuinely moving, and I swear the fight animation looked better than most of the canon stuff we've seen lately.

The way those heat orbs exploded in this fight was genuinely surprising, I never imagined they'd look so much more impactful and detailed than the ones we saw way back when. It really made me feel like the sheer scale of the battle was hitting a new level, something earlier episodes occasionally hinted at but never quite reached with such visual punch.

I actually didn't expect to care so much about Maki, but seeing her past with Pakura really got to me. It makes me wonder if she'll be able to find some peace in this war, or if her loyalty will just lead to more pain.

Ugh, the Scorch style completely unnerved me; just thinking about someone literally drying out like that is super messed up. It honestly makes the whole war feel so much grimmer and more personal, and I'm seriously wondering how anyone's going to survive techniques that brutal.

I was kinda surprised by how much I liked watching Gari's explosion style, even though most of the episode really focused on Pakura. Her story was pretty heavy, and it made me wonder if she could have found peace if things had just gone a little differently for her.

Pakura's backstory absolutely floored me; I genuinely wasn't expecting her own village to have been behind her death, especially after seeing how much power she wielded. It makes me so mad for her, thinking about all the loyalty she gave them only to be betrayed, and it really puts into perspective the harsh realities some ninja face. How could they just discard someone so strong?

I just can't get over how messed up it is that Maki has to fight Pakura, her former master, especially after realizing the Sand village totally used and abandoned Pakura like that. It makes me wonder if Maki feels the immense weight of her village's betrayal as she faces the tragic consequences.

I was genuinely shocked by how easily Pakura just turned those guys into mummies with her scorch style orbs, it felt so effortless for her. The animation really highlighted that terrifying power, and I gotta say, seeing her do all that without even breaking a sweat kinda made me wonder just how strong she really was back in her prime.

Watching Pakura turn people into mummies with those crazy floating fireballs was definitely a sight, I was genuinely impressed by how terrifyingly effective that jutsu looked. But man, her just suddenly stopping after such a build-up felt really rushed to me, I was kind of bummed out because it seemed like there should've been more to that fight.

I was actually pretty impressed with how they handled Gari and his explosion style; it looked so cool! It’s really nice to see these other ninjas finally get some screentime and show what they can do while the big guns are off fighting somewhere else, makes me wonder if they'll actually make a difference in this war.

Learning the Sand village essentially traded Pakura to the Mist for a peace treaty felt so cold, and it just makes me understand her rage as a reanimation completely. I mean, after that betrayal, how could she not be absolutely livid?

I seriously got chills seeing Pakura just mummify those guys with her Scorch Style; that jutsu was terrifying to watch. It's such a bummer she's only a filler character, because honestly, I think she could have been a much bigger deal in the main story.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Falling deep into the Fourth Great Ninja War arc, Episode 285 follows the Allied Shinobi Forces' ongoing confrontations with Kabuto's reanimated warriors introduced in the preceding episodes. As a filler entry, it pauses the main war timeline to flesh out side characters and battlefield dynamics, enriching the emotional stakes without advancing the core plot. Subsequent episodes continue the war's momentum, making this an optional but thematically resonant pause before the conflict escalates further.
