Synopsis

On her record, Kuroko Koumori has seven hundred and fifteen kills. Most people in that situation end up executed — but Kuroko proves she's still sane enough to be useful, so the government puts her to work instead. She's now a State-Appointed Executioner, hunting down criminals too dangerous or too weird for regular law enforcement to handle. Her partner is Hinako, a cheerful girl who treats physics as more of a suggestion than a rule, especially behind the wheel of a Ferrari. Together they take on cases that sit somewhere between grim crime thriller and total chaos. The tone is hard to pin down at first — it's genuinely violent and doesn't shy away from that, but it also has a dark, dry humor running underneath everything that keeps it from feeling purely grim. Kuroko herself is a big part of that balance. She's an unrepentant predator who also happens to be openly, aggressively interested in women, which gives the whole show a strange, entertaining energy. If you liked Black Lagoon's morally untethered action or the brutal edge of Elfen Lied, this sits in that same uncomfortable-but-compelling space. Fans of Psycho-Pass might also appreciate the premise — using killers to catch killers — though Murciélago is considerably less interested in philosophy and considerably more interested in carnage. It's a Seinen action series with Girls Love at its core, and that combination is rarer than it should be.
