My stomach turned when he started talking about the selling price, but the art held up throughout the whole thing

seeing the eyes change during the brainwashing was the only good part

the way the lab looks so cold while she cries is brutal

I hated how the scientist laughed during that injection scene and it made me feel so gross

you can see the light leaving their eyes during the transformation process and that was way more intense than you would expect

the music in the underground lab is so drone and moody and it fits the dark vibe they are going for with the memory wiping stuff

seeing the way those girls are just processed like tools in that basement is really uncomfortable but the animation during the surgery scenes is surprisingly fluid

The scientist is a complete monster, and seeing him enjoy those secret projects alone in the dark just makes the whole episode feel really bleak

it made me feel pretty gross when he started talking about the purity of the subjects but the art quality is definitely carrying the whole thing right now

the girl in the secret project is getting way more screen time than the ones being sold and the dialogue is actually kind of interesting

I really didn't expect the scientist to be so clinical about everything, because it makes the underground facility feel much more realistic and messed up than usual. The way he talks about the selling process vs the secret projects for himself is a weird detail, and it adds a lot of character depth that I wasn't looking for

you can really tell they spent the budget on the transformation machine animations and it looks better than the actual characters sometimes

that lab setting is so creepy and the way he treats the secret projects makes the whole withering purity title feel way too literal

I hate how the scientist just breaks them down like that and the transformation scenes are actually pretty dark for this kind of show

the way the lab lights flicker when the power surges during the experiment is a nice touch and it makes the underground atmosphere feel really heavy and dark
raijin_rider's avatar

I actually liked the focus on the psychological aspect of the girl losing her sense of self as the scientist worked on his project, it made the whole underground setting feel much more claustrophobic and grim. The sound design during the transformation scenes really added to the atmosphere and I think it stands out way more than the usual generic stuff you see

pacing feels a bit slow when he is just explaining the machines instead of actually using them and i hope the next girl gets more screen time than the last one

i really hated how they treated the blond girl in the first half because the scientist just felt way too cartoonish and it took me out of the mood entirely

that scene where the girls realize they cannot leave the lab is messed up and the art style for the transformation tech looks surprisingly detailed for such a niche title

seeing the total loss of identity in the final scenes was a lot to process after all that manipulation

EPISODE CONTEXT

Following 'The Monster in White,' which established the underground facility and its sinister operations, 'Withering Purity' escalates the psychological stakes and brings the scientist's experiments to their conclusion. As the final episode of a two-part series, there is no subsequent episode — this installment carries the full weight of narrative resolution and closes the arc without a continuation.
