Synopsis

The Baseball World Cup is nearing, and Gorou Honda is eager to represent his country. However, one small problem stands in his way: the team roster has already been selected, and he is not a part of it. Nonetheless, Gorou remains adamant to join. He becomes a practice pitcher for the Japanese national team, hoping to demonstrate his incredible speed and skills to the team's manager. Fortunately, Gorou is given the chance to prove his worth: he must show an impressive performance in the upcoming practice match involving the veteran Japanese team and the young players who hope to replace them. The World Cup will bring together some of the strongest players from around the globe. It will also set the stage for Gorou's long-awaited showdown with his longtime rival, Joe Gibson.

This season has many ups and downs, twists, shocking cliffhangers, inspiring, depressing, and many more kinds of emotions. The animation was no doubt peak, along with the pacing. The World Cup series was definitely intense and the plot for it was extremely powerful to build. Goro's character development was still not that smooth, but we can see his maturity progressing this season. And the way the season finale ended was well-executed.

I can feel Goro's distress and this episode really hit the rock bottom of his effort. The tone was totally unmotivated and depressing in the first half. Felt that the flashbacks repeating before Goro's eyes were nostalgic and gloomy. The eyecatcher was the best, though! The familiar faces of the characters' inspired by Goro was refreshing to see again! The visuals with Goro and his young self were cinematically beautiful! And what a way to end this season with that ED!

I'm at a loss for words for this episode. I don't know where to start. But I thought that Gibson Jr. hit a foul by hitting that post, though? Well, the tone of this episode was depressing, and the atmosphere was so heavy that it was unnoticeable. Goro's emotional and mental breakdown was unsettling, but it was well-executed in this ep. And another shocking cliffhanger right at the ending — it was definitely a must-watch!
