The ending of the ghost arc felt way more tragic than most would expect and the way Miko looks at her crush is just painful now

The animation during the final confrontation with the spirit was really fluid and seeing the school hallways get so distorted was a cool touch

The retro vibes in the character designs are so nostalgic and the way the ghost interacts with Miko's love interest makes for some really tense scenes

Seeing the ghost finally corner Miko's crush was intense, especially since the life-force stealing looked so much more brutal in this episode than the others

It is wild that Miko has to deal with a literal death spirit while she is just trying to get through her first big crush and the pacing stays fast

My heart actually hurt seeing that ghost girl's backstory because it explains why she was so obsessed with stealing energy from the students in the first place

Miko trying to juggle her crush while fighting off a life stealing phantom is pretty stressful to watch and the art style has that perfect old school grit

That phantom lady is genuinely terrifying when she goes after the guys and the visuals for the life force draining scenes are super detailed

I usually come to these for the scenes, but the actual story about the reincarnation and the sad history of the ghost really got to me this time. Seeing Miko so desperate to protect her love interest, while the ghost was draining everyone else, made for a heavy finale. It felt much more like a real supernatural horror story than a generic ova.

I thought the way the ghost keeps targeting the school kids was intense and the supernatural mystery part is better than I expected for this kind of show

Seeing the way that female ghost drains life force in the school was terrifying and those phantom attacks were definitely the most brutal part of the finale

The tragic history of Kyoshiro and Shanahime from four hundred years ago added so much weight to the chaos in the present, and I was genuinely worried about Hidemasa getting kidnapped. Miko falling for him is what really made her identity as a ninja feel so much more lonely during the final fight with those ghosts

Kyoshiro and Shanahime had a really depressing past and seeing their grudge play out after four hundred years made the ending feel more heavy than the usual episodes

Watching Miko try to be a normal girl while her ninja duties keep getting in the way is rough and that flute music during the ghost scenes is actually pretty creepy

I was so upset when Hidemasa got snatched away by that phantom lady just as Miko was starting to feel like a normal girl and I felt so bad for her

Ending the series on such a bittersweet note with the ancient lovers was a bold choice and Miko coming to terms with her feelings for Hidemasa was a great way to close it

When the ghost targeted Hidemasa it felt like the floor falling out because Miko finally found someone she likes and then everything just went south immediately

It hit me pretty hard when Hidemasa was put in actual danger because it made Miko's ninja duties feel so much more personal this time around. The whole tragedy with Shanahime and Kyoshiro from four centuries ago was surprisingly sad for a series like this, and it really elevated the stakes for the final resolution of the EX chapters

Hearing the tragic story of the betrothed couple from the past made the phantom feel less like a villain and more like a person just lost in their own sadness and pain

Miko going all out to rescue Hidemasa from the ghost showed a side of her we do not usually see and it made for a solid conclusion to the EX series

EPISODE CONTEXT

This is the final episode of a four-part OVA series, meaning everything built across the preceding three episodes — character dynamics, supernatural conflicts, and escalating tension — converges here. There is no next episode, making this the definitive endpoint for all ongoing threads. Viewers arriving at Episode 4 should expect the series to prioritize resolution over new introductions.
