QUICK TAKES

the ending theme is surprisingly catchy for such a short episode and it actually has a better beat than most of the background music they used earlier

tatsumaki_tornado
I can not get over how non existent the plot is and they did not even try to give a reason for why those characters were in the kitchen

iris_cannary_171
I was mostly just checking this out because the title sounded like a weird parody of other shows but the way the main girl is actually kind of sweet in the beginning made the ending hit a lot harder, and the art style reminds me of those older titles from the mid 2000s so that nostalgia really carried me through the slow parts
filo_feather_150's avatar
filo_feather_150
you can tell they spent the whole budget on the first five minutes because the rest of the episode looked like a slideshow of static images with a filter on top
marluxia_454's avatar
marluxia_454
those character proportions are absolutely insane and it makes some of the movements look really clunky when they are trying to do anything fast

Lighting in the bedroom scene was actually impressive for this kind of budget, and the detail on the character models was better than anything else in the episode

my head was hurting from how loud the voice acting was during the library scene and I just could not get into the mood with that shrieking
kido_knight's avatar
kido_knight
that first scene in the classroom went on way too long and the dialogue was super boring for a show that is supposed to be more about the action
ein's avatar

the animation is kind of hit or miss but that part where the music picks up during the confession was actually decent enough for the intro
asukawaifu's avatar

The designs in the opening scene are bright and pop out at you especially with the main girl and her ridiculous hair
jiro_jolt_127's avatar

That scene where Usami just grabs Misaki and forces himself on him is actually pretty scary and it makes the whole romance vibe feel wrong
groudon's avatar

My heart broke for Usami when Takahiro announced his engagement because you can see his world just falling apart right there in the living room
devonte2847's avatar
devonte2847
Usami being ten years older than Misaki and doing all that stuff without asking is making this a very weird watch in hindsight
yveltal's avatar

Misaki finding those spicy novels with his brother as a main character was the most awkward thing ever and his face said it all
solgaleo's avatar
solgaleo
I forgot how much of a creep Usami is in the beginning but that scene where he starts crying over Takahiro getting married actually got to me

most of these short series feel rushed but this one took its time and now the wait for the conclusion is going to be painful
sailor_neptune's avatar
sailor_neptune
it is a very cold start for a series and the lack of explanation makes the whole vibe feel a bit more mysterious than I expected
bloo_balloon's avatar
bloo_balloon
watching this without knowing anything beforehand was weird but the setup for the next episode is actually pretty solid
dark_beast_ganon's avatar
dark_beast_ganon
the animation quality was surprisingly consistent throughout the whole thing, and that cliffhanger is going to stay in my head until the finale drops

jugrad_juggernaut_482
I went into this expecting something totally different, but it was actually a pretty grounded start for a two part series and I appreciated the focus on the actual character dynamics before things escalated too quickly. The way they leave the main conflict unresolved is a bit of a gut punch though and I really need the next episode now

EPISODE CONTEXT

With only two episodes total, this first installment carries significant structural weight — it is essentially the entire setup half of what is a very compact story. There is no prior episode to build on, making this the cold entry point into the series' world and characters. Everything established here feeds directly into Episode 2, which serves as the conclusion, meaning this episode likely ends on an unresolved note designed to pull viewers forward.
