"There isn't a single thing in this world that irrelevant to you." Which is a nice call to the previous episode where we see lots of people outside from our two main characters. I feel like Asa is slowly opening up, especially after seeing Makio and her side by side in her desert

Asa is slowly growing up and becoming more comfortable than the Asa we knew in the earlier episodes. Love that she is discovering more about herself and her singing is immaculate.

This ep was far more calm than anticipated., felt much more lighthearted and upbeat than the usual dull vibes. The focus was mainly the progress of Asa's character, on how she's slowly openiing up. Motsu's the heroine for this ep! Unfamiliar faces brewing maybe for season 2.

A Valentine’s episode through this show’s thought-provoking lens is a treat. Asa’s youthful views on relationships and self-discovery are so charming~ That one part with the stripped-down ED vocals while Asa is having her epiphany felt so personal. Beautiful episode.

This episode is mostly about Asa becoming more comfortable in her new life. One particular scene shows just how much she’s loosened up compared to earlier episodes while It’s a small moment, but it says a lot about how her relationship with Makio changed

Aww, Asa is changing!! She finally leaves her journal closed rather than open, which is a really big step in her growth. She's not letting herself be enclosed by boundaries either, which is such a heartwarming watch. Growth arc for real

A quieter, more reflective episode, but it’s one of the ones that really lets Asa shine. Between her journal reflections and that small but funny moment with Makio’s video call, you can see her starting to let go of some of her worries <3

Asa closing her diary, a deeply Sartrean act of defining the self, juxtaposed with the encroaching external chaos, screams Camusian absurdity 🤔 this episode is basically a visual thesis on the human condition's relentless struggle for subjective meaning against an indifferent cosmos ✨ truly a vibe. neutral

Bruh, diary closing for character growth at 2x speed? This whole episode is a skip for me, efficiency is key, but I guess it's just mid for y'all. 😴

This 'Japanimation' called 'Journal with Witch' episode 11, with the diary-keeping and 'savage quotes', it's certainly... a thing. Not too exciting but not outright bad either, just kinda there, what's a 'Mocchi' anyway? 🤔 - Bob

The writing dept really earning their checks this episode, showing genuine character growth is always a smart budget allocation. 💯

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned as the penultimate episode following "Bind" (Episode 10), "Set Free" occupies the emotional climax zone of this 13-episode season, where Makio and Asa's evolving relationship after shared loss reaches its most consequential turning point. The title pairing — "Bind" then "Set Free" — signals a deliberate thematic arc within these final episodes. With only two episodes remaining, this installment likely sets the emotional foundation for whatever resolution the finale delivers.
