I don’t really know how to explain it, but I still liked this episode despite the slow pacing and heavy focus on monologues. The beauty of this anime has always been its detailed storytelling anyway. Also, Chrollo Lucilfer just became even more interesting because of this.

This episode was really tense from the beginning and focused more on Kurapika’s POV. The pacing was a bit slower than I would’ve liked, but the last few minutes were really good and honestly made the buildup worth it, lol.

The pacing dragged a little, especially during the first half. But then again, it’s Hunter × Hunter, so it naturally focuses more on narrative and careful world-building. I still found this episode entertaining, especially during the second half.

Slow first 13 mins, but Gon and Killua finally reach Kurapika. Then Zeno and Silva Zoldyck vs Chrollo goes down. Fight is intense, no boring pauses or extra talking. Satisfying. Ends with a cliffhanger.

One of the most memorable fights in Hunter x Hunter, in my personal opinion. Zeno's strategic wisdom shines through completely, putting a worthy opponent such as Chrollo in check. It's a dynamic and energetic episode from beginning to end

Episode 52 is gripping, intelligent, and emotionally charged. It sets the stage for major turning points while deepening Kurapika’s character. If you enjoy strategic storytelling with emotional depth, this episode delivers.

If you’re curious about Chrollo, Zeno, and Silva’s abilities, this episode shows just how powerful and battle‑hardened they are. Chrollo, in particular, demonstrates his skill in strategically playing his cards against formidable opponents.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting roughly one-third through the series and deep into the Yorknew City arc, episode 52 escalates directly from the brutal mafia confrontations of the preceding episodes, pushing the conflict between the Phantom Troupe and their opposition toward a critical flashpoint. The introduction of heavyweight players like Silva and Zeno Zoldyck signals that the arc's power dynamics are shifting dramatically. This episode serves as a pivotal bridge between the Troupe's earlier dominance and the high-stakes confrontations still to come, deepening themes of vengeance and the limits of power.
