Hitozukiai ga Nigate na Miboujin no Yukionna-san to Noroi no Yubiwa

Takahashi inherits an apartment building from his late father, except the tenants are all yokai. Among them is Yukino Mifuyu, a yuki-onna widow who is beautiful, cold in the literal supernatural sense, and deeply uncomfortable around people. Then Takahashi finds a cursed ring that can command yokai, and the story stops being a cozy supernatural landlord comedy pretty quickly. The ring creates an unequal, uncomfortable dynamic between him and Yukino, and the show leans into that tension rather than brushing past it. Her status as a widow and her social isolation give the premise a quieter, more melancholy weight than you might expect from the genre. There is an ecchi element, so go in with clear expectations on that front, but the cursed ring functions as a genuine source of ethical friction rather than a convenient plot device to skip over. If you liked Yuragi-sou no Yuuna-san or Monster Musume no Iru Nichijou but want something with a darker undercurrent beneath the monster-girl romance, this is worth keeping an eye on. It draws comparisons to Mato Seihei no Slave as well in terms of its power-imbalance framing. The TV adaptation is also confirmed to include original story content beyond the source doujinshi, so even readers of the original are getting something new.
