Synopsis
Meet Ryusei Narukami, a NEET who spends his days gaming in his room, perfectly content to rot away in peace. Turns out he used to be a Demon King in another world, got killed by a hero, and reincarnated into modern Japan. Honestly, not a bad deal: no responsibilities, no kingdom to run, just vibes. That is, until the hero who killed him shows up at his door. She's reincarnated too, except now she's a high school girl named Meteor Hanaori, and she hasn't forgotten their rivalry one bit. Somehow this whole situation drags Ryusei out of his room and into a teaching job at her school, which is exactly the kind of unhinged career move you'd expect from a former Demon King with zero life skills. The whole thing plays out as this comedic, romantic back-and-forth between two people who used to fight to the death and now have to coexist in a world where the stakes are homework and social awkwardness instead of world domination. Their dynamic carries the show, enemies-to-whatever-this-is, but in a slice-of-life wrapper. If you liked The Devil Is a Part-Timer for the "fantasy villain adjusts to mundane life" angle, or KonoSuba for the chaotic character chemistry, this hits a similar spot. The seinen demographic means it leans a bit more grounded in its humor rather than going full slapstick. It's a fun spin on reincarnation stories that's more interested in the relationship than the lore, and that honestly works in its favor.
