Synopsis

A self-described fishing addict from one of the rougher parts of Japan, Juntaro has a theory: the more dangerous the city's reputation, the better the food. So he just... goes. Lagos, Karachi, wherever, if people say don't go there, he books a flight and finds somewhere to eat. The series follows him globe-trotting through places most travel shows wouldn't touch, and the food he finds along the way is genuinely fascinating stuff. Here's the twist though: Juntaro has consumed so much manga and anime in his life that his brain now processes every person he meets as a beautiful anime character. Every vendor, every local guide, every stranger on the street. It adds this quietly absurd layer to what is otherwise a pretty grounded travel-and-food show, and the contrast between the gritty real-world settings and Juntaro's completely unhinged perception of them is where most of the humor lives. It's adapted from a web manga and leans into that nonfiction travel-diary energy, so it feels less like a scripted show and more like someone's weird, compelling travel journal. If you liked the calm, observational pace of Barakamon or the way Tsuritama makes a specific hobby feel like a whole world, this sits in a similar headspace, just rougher around the edges and with better street food. Worth your time if you want something that feels genuinely different from the usual slice-of-life setup.
