At one episode, it's a tight, self-contained introduction that sets up the stakes, the magic system, and the cast without dragging anything out. Ufotable's animation here is genuinely stunning, the fight choreography has weight and detail that holds up years later. If you enjoyed the supernatural battles in Shakugan no Shana or the warrior dynamics in Claymore, this hits a similar nerve but with a more polished presentation. The tone is strategic and tense, with Rin trying to play the war like chess while everything around her refuses to cooperate.
