Senku casually says “we’re going to the moon” like it’s a grocery run. Meanwhile everyone else is internally screaming because they were just happy having electricity last season.

It still blows my mind at how these two geniuses are connected. The writers know how to build up anticipation with this banger episode 1. The opening theme is awesomely done too!

That flashback of Xeno was so heartwarming. How seamless it was inserted into this episode's narrative shows solid writing! Chrome was so cute trying to keep up with Senku and Xeno's calculations lmao

Senku and Xeno's discussion alone helped unearth so much about the long-standing mystery surrounding the "stone age". It was entertaining watching the two figure out something neither could alone!

The chemistry and similarities in thinking between Xeno and Senku make me wonder why the two sides must fight, especially when their objective stretches down the same path of finding the source of the petrification beam - the doctor can probably see how capable Senku's group is.

The beginning of this episode really did some heavy-lifting in building to why Xeno and Stanley mean so much to each other. It helped establish that since young, the two had/have been looking out for one another, and recognized each other's respective intellect and abilities

The OP is pretty upbeat reminded me to the visuals from Marvel comic books or of Jojo's Bizarre animation. The ED is quite mellow but amazing with it's smooth animation and visuals.

Seeing Stanley and Xeno’s past added more depth to their characters. This episode was a great kickstart for the second cour—a bit of a warm-up that sets the stage for what’s about to happen next.

This chasing game was definitely anxiety-inducing, but I’m not gonna lie—it really showcased the spectacular teamwork between Xeno, Senku, and even Chrome. I love seeing them work together so seamlessly under pressure.

It's amazing that we get to see Senku and Xeno working together especially since they both respected Byakuya, it felt like he was one of the few reasons why they manage to work well with each other. Cant wait to see what they manage to do together in later episodes.

A solid start that wastes no time. Senku and Xeno's uneasy alliance feels fresh. Ginro's mistake is frustrating but true to form. The episode balances character moments with plot momentum well, leaving you eager for what comes next. A well-paced, tension-building episode.

UP: BRO THEY GOING TO SPACE?? Senku's ambition knows no bounds. The crew's reaction to "space travel" is hilarious. DOWN: First ep is mostly setup. Gotta gather materials AGAIN. But the hype is real. 🚀

EPISODE CONTEXT

As the first episode of a twelve-episode run, 'Watching the Same Moon' marks the transition from the prior conflict between Senku's Kingdom of Science and Dr. Xeno's American colony into the South America Arc, pivoting the story from confrontation to collaboration. It establishes the merged teams' new objective—tracing the petrification event to its source—and sets the strategic and emotional stakes for the journey ahead. Everything here is foundational setup designed to pay off across the remaining eleven episodes.
