I feel like my brain is melting after that whole sequence in the peak memories and it makes so much more sense why they call them pets now. Seeing Hiroki as a fish and the way Tsukasa protects him is definitely giving me some serious bromance vibes and I am here for it even if the memory stuff is dark and twisted

Hiroki and Tsukasa have such a weirdly close relationship and it makes the way they casually destroy peoples minds feel even more uncomfortable and fascinating at the same time

that scene with the mother beating her child was so hard to watch and it really shows how messed up these people are even when they think they are being merciful

the psychological stuff in this show is so dense and you really have to pay attention to every single detail or you will get lost during the mind crushing parts

it actually terrifies me how easily they can just rewrite your entire life and make you think your worst enemy is your best friend instead of turning you into a vegetable

watching Kenji just delete his best friend Yokota and replace him with Katsuragi was so cold and that meme about friendship ending is the only thing on my mind right now

The visual of Tsukasa shifting like a water droplet against that aurora background was stunning, even if the story is still making my head spin a little bit

Katsuragi almost ruining the entire plan because he couldnt wait two minutes for them to finish the memory wipe is so frustrating and he really needs to chill out

I still cant get over Hiroki turning into a fish and jumping around while they messed with those memories because that whole scene looked so trippy and cool

The animation looked a bit rough in the normal scenes, but the creative imagery like the ripple effects made the memory world feel distinct

Replacing a childhood friend with a stranger is the most terrifying thing this show has done yet and seeing Kenji wake up like everything was fine was pure nightmare fuel

I found Katsuragi really annoying for jumping the gun while they were inside the mind but those glowing lights in the peak made up for the weird pacing of the episode

It was super confusing to follow what was happening at first but the way Yokota just became a silhouette after they swapped the memory was clever and felt super haunting

Hiroki and Tsukasa have such a weird vibe together and you can tell they care about each other way more than the job while they were tearing through Kenji memories
katy_362's avatar
katy_362
The choice to completely crush Kenji's mind instead of killing him felt so much more brutal because now he is just a shell with fake memories. I was really fascinated by the way they visualize the Peak with the water droplets and the fish forms, even if the actual animation outside those scenes felt a bit stiff and budget compared to the art direction

Those water droplet transformations looked so cool during the memory dive and it is so dark that they just deleted Yokota from existence

The sky inside the peak looked absolutely gorgeous with those colors but seeing Yokota get shadowed out of his own life was depressing and Katsuragi almost messed the whole thing up because he is so impatient

Hiroki turning into a fish animorph style was the funniest thing in an otherwise dark episode and the psychological stuff with Kenji mind getting crushed really sticks with you

I felt so bad for Kenji because having your best friend literally erased from your mind is way scarier than dying and Hiroki looked so weird as a golden carp in that memory world

My brain feels like it is melting with that inception theory and I think those mind diving visuals are just so trippy

EPISODE CONTEXT

This is a canonical second episode, directly following the series premiere that established the core relationship dynamic and characters. With no confirmed total episode count available, it is unclear how far into the overall arc this falls, but as an early episode it likely deepens the scenarios introduced in Episode 1 rather than pivoting in a new direction. It sets the tone for whatever episodes follow.
