Probably one of my favourite dunmeshi episodes, especially for the first segment and Thistle's introduction. I love the way the paintings show his life and how he never really changes...

every time i think this show can't surprise me it pulls something completely new. dedicating narrative focus to chilchuck's expertise in trap evasion significantly fleshes out his character utility. interpreting the classic mimic as a biological crustacean akin to a hermit crab is another brilliant stroke of ecological world-building.

the creativity of this show is unmatched, living paintings is such a wild concept and they somehow make it work. the living paintings remind me so much of my imagination when i was a little child. of course laios's silly self had to jump right in (i'd do the same) there is genuinely never a boring day with this group inside the dungeon

the living paintings episode is lowkey one of the most creative things ive seen in anime. THIS IS MY FAVORITE ARC! laios is an absolute idiot for jumping into those paintings but i love him so much, chilchuck fighting for his life against a mimic just for them to boil it like a giant lobster is hilarious. comedy packed ep 10/10

Laios’ adventures in the Living Paintings are a fun distraction with an underlying sense of dread from the suspicious elf he meets. Chilchuck is given the limelight, and his intelligence and expertise in dealing with traps is the high point of the episode with tense animation.

The episode provides as lore about the dungeon through the paintings while still retaining mystery revolving around it. We see our first real character development involving the most mysterious character to evenly provide relevancy to each character. The cooking of the episode today seems forced lacking any excitement the made it seemed something extra only in a show about delicacies in the dungeon.

survival strategy over action. The team is out of food, so they have to make smart decisions about where to rest and how to use limited resources, everything from scouting ahead to managing hunger and danger. A tricky monster situation also forces a solo survival test

Though the concept behind Laios' and Chilchuck's episode halves were solid and interesting, there didn't seem to be a cohesion between them that wraps up the episode in a satisfying way. Animation and sound were superb as usual, but I couldn't help but find the episode wanting.

Good for the developers focusing on side characters too. They showed why Chilchuck hates the mimics. Everypart of the episode, they insert comedy in it, there may be dead bodies and blood, yet their focus is to be funny. No episode is a waste. Never knew a mimic can be like crab!

This episode is kind of slow and no extra cuisine hopefully they did something extra special when they cook the food nonetheless its funny and chill.

Sitting at the quarter-mark of this 24-episode season, it bridges the early establishment episodes with the more complex challenges ahead, specifically teeing up Episode 7's aquatic-themed encounters. The dungeon is getting stranger, and the group's willingness to adapt through cooking is becoming less novelty and more necessity.
