the episode begins to show early signs of the narrative fatigue that extended arcs produce. the plot mechanics are moving but not at a pace that feels satisfying. the central dynamic is doing a lot of heavy lifting to keep things engaging.

i just want to coddle light at this point because he is so genuinely adorable to me even in this version of himself. the dynamic between him and L is so oddly intimate and completely beyond anything i expected this show to deliver lmaoooo now i get the hype on lawlight

GOD I NEED THE OLD LIGHT BACK. the banter and chemistry between these two is still absolutely peak television but the rest of the episode around it is starting to feel like dressing around the moments that actually matter.

This time it's Yagami's moving as Yagami himself, showing his skills not only proves that he can be either of his two personalities.

Not that intense episode. But I could sense that we are nearing the tense part. More of a fun and wholesome because of Misa. I think this is skippable. More on planning how to catch kira. In the whole episode, the only important part is the call from Light.

Struggling characters always have a huge payoff, that is if they made it out of their situation. The episode greatly portrays this moment in their lives. Watch to see them wrestle out of it.

Yotsubas are openly discussing the killing spree. While Light, Chief and Matsuda are convinced to arrest the board members, L was reluctant to participate in that thought. He wants to investigate this case differently. Light, Misa and L are regrouping to work together at last.

Not too much to say for this episode for me.
New intro! I miss the old one tho, it was highkey iconic.
In this episode, we get L's inner conflict of believing Light is kira but also kira's powers are being passed on.

L’s plan to use Misa to infiltrate Yotsuba intensifies the mind games. The tension is electric as strategy and deception collide, revealing the lengths both sides will go for justice or power. Clever twists, sharp pacing, and psychological chess make this episode a standout.

L actually looks tired here. You can tell he’s not fully convinced that Light is innocent, and that thought keeps bothering him

Misa is finally back and she's actually being useful for once. Seeing her trick the Yotsuba guy by pretending to be a fan was hilarious but also super smart. Light is still acting so pureand honest that it’s almost creepy.

The pacing accelerates without losing control. The chase sequence carries a sense of chaotic feeling. There is more emotional intensity in the music, especially when it is played during the memory return scenes. The storm is back. The calm arc is over.

Light going full improv mode and pulling off a con in real time is wild. the task force's moral dilemma adds real weight and the new OP slaps with some serious foreshadowing energy. also new arc who dis 👏🏻

It is calm but very important for the story. The tension is still there, but the focus shifts to strategy and planning. It shows how smart and careful the characters are. Even without big action, it keeps you interested and makes you curious about what will happen next.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at the midpoint of the Yotsuba arc, 'Makeshift' builds directly on the fallout from Matsuda's risky undercover infiltration in the previous episode, converting that gathered intelligence into a more structured offensive against the corporate conspirators. This episode serves as a critical bridge, escalating from passive surveillance toward the more confrontational approach that 'Performance' will deliver next. At episode 20 of 37, this is the series deepening its second major conflict before the narrative pivots toward its endgame.
