Here we have another anime aimed at girls, featuring a group of attractive guys with striking designs. The key question here is whether it manages to stand out from the rest. It doesn't start off well; the characters over-explain their origins to the audience, a terrible trope in anime. The animation is beautiful and polished, but the story seems to be moving on autopilot, driven by the exaggerated quirks of its characters. It's like tropes playing out their tropes. It's understandable, given that this story is adapted from a video game and they're aiming for over-the-top humor, but it's still awkward that the characters come across as caricatures with only one distinguishing feature. For now, the only saving grace of this episode is the art and animation. It seems that there are conspiracy plots and games of thrones involved, at least that's what they seem to be telling us with small clues. Let's hope it's worth the anticipation.
