The revelation about their relationship lands well because of the buildup from previous episodes. The stranded-in-Warsaw subplot gives the cast time to breathe and develop bonds, which the series needed. Some of the mystical elements around the Geass feel a bit underdeveloped compared to the main series, but the overall direction is engaging.
