bluethornrated Caligula Episode 5 - Everyone Gets Hurt. But Those Who Don't Realize They're Hurting Can't Be Healed.
This episode leaves me with mixed feelings. It raises the expectation that, with the characters separating, each will have their own goal to achieve, and although the episode focuses more on Ritsu and his attempts to awaken Kotono, it does offer glimpses into what's happening with the other characters through small vignettes. The confrontation between Kotono and Mirei bothers me; I understand it's meant to reflect Kotono's feelings about men, but I found the "battle" and the way Kotono "won" quite crude. Perhaps that reference to Freud and the fascination with "mothers" was intentional, but it's still in poor taste. I'm more interested in what's happening with Shogo.
