I hate seeing Rukia being used as a puppet like that and her face when she was begging Orihime to just kill her actually broke my heart

Watching Orihime refuse to hit Rukia even when the fairies were screaming at her was so hard to watch and it really shows how much she values her friends above her own safety

It is always a bit annoying when filler drags, but seeing Orihime finally stand her ground with that shield bash was great. She spent the whole time being told to kill Mabashi or hit Rukia and she just wouldnt do it because she still sees Bounts as humans. Her resolve is really underrated and I like that she stays true to herself.

The pacing in these filler episodes is just so slow and watching Rukia get treated like a puppet for Mabashi was pretty annoying even if Orihime had a decent moment

Rukia's anguish as she had to swing at Orihime was absolutely gut-wrenching for me to witness, and I practically felt her desperation when she begged Orihime to just put up a fight. It made me really question if Orihime's stubborn kindness was actually going to get her killed this time.

I was so glad to see Orihime finally get a real win with that shield hug at the end, it really felt like she finally got to show her strength in a way that wasn't just healing, and frankly, I was starting to worry she'd just be a damsel in distress for this whole arc.

Orihime's resolve to stay a pacifist even when Rukia was trying to take her out was the best thing here. I know people hate the filler arcs in this show, but this moment actually made me respect Orihime a lot more as a character. Watching her use the Santen Kesshun to embrace Rukia instead of attacking was really moving and actually made the wait worth it. It felt like her most determined moment so far.

I was so impressed that Orihime refused to view the Bounts as anything other than human because it shows she stays true to herself no matter how dangerous things get

That moment when Orihime chose to hug Rukia with her shield instead of fighting back was such a strong way to show how much she cares about her friends and it really worked

Rukia kept trying to fight off Ritz just to protect her friends and it made the whole deadly battle of tears title feel earned

orihime refusing to hit mabashi because he is technically human is exactly why some fans get annoyed, but it showed how much she cares about everyone

i finally got to see Rukia back in her soul reaper robes and that was a nice change of pace even if she was being controlled by that weird doll

watching Rukia struggle against that mind control was actually painful and Mabashi is a total creep for making them go at each other

That scene where Orihime starts breaking down because she has to fight her best friend hit me pretty hard. I usually find the Bount stuff a bit slow and the villains are kind of boring but Rukia begging for someone to attack her made this feel way more personal than the other filler fights we have had lately

Watching Rukia cry while her body is fighting Orihime had way more emotional weight than I expected for a filler episode in the middle of this arc

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 85 sits firmly within a filler stretch that follows the conclusion of the Soul Society arc, one of Bleach's most celebrated runs. The previous episode raised questions about Rukia's allegiance, and this installment escalates that thread by forcing a direct confrontation between her and Orihime. The next episode pivots away from this pairing to spotlight other team members facing their own filler-arc challenges.
