You can tell this was just filler to pad the season out and it felt like a waste of time when the main Soul Society stuff is so much better

It definitely feels like a side story since Ichigo is nowhere to be found, but seeing Karin and Yuzu deal with that Hollow and the cat spirit was actually a nice change of pace and most fillers are just random stories but this one using the sketches from the manga chapters makes it feel like it actually belongs in the world despite being skippable

Karin being so protective of Yuzu while that Hollow was looming around really got to me because their bond is a great part of the family dynamic

If you skip this you miss out on some really sweet character beats for Karin, and I think her development here makes her spiritual awareness way more interesting than the manga leads on

It was nice to see Karin and Yuzu do their own thing for once since Ichigo is usually the only one getting into spirit fights and they deserve more time on screen

This feels like a different show without Ichigo around but seeing how the sisters handle high spiritual pressure on their own makes the world feel a lot bigger than just the main cast

I was ready to skip this filler junk but seeing Yuzu get some shine made it worth the twenty minutes and that cat spirit was way more emotional than I expected it to be

Most guides say skip this one but the part where the cat spirit shows up was actually pretty charming and it was cool seeing those manga sketch ideas animated

It is weird how the show just stops the main plot for a bit but the way they expanded on those Tite Kubo sketches gives the sisters some much needed depth early on

It felt weirdly good to see a low stakes story about a cat named Raku after all that drama with Rukia and seeing the neighborhood heroes protect the town was actually fun

Karin being able to sense spirits so clearly while Ichigo is gone makes you wonder what else she can do and her standing her ground against those hollows was pretty impressive for a kid

The sheer chaos of Don Kanonji dragging these kids into his crazy television world is bizarre and seeing Jinta smash stuff with that giant mace was the highlight of the whole thing

Karin bossing the others around during the ghost hunt hit me hard because her being the tough sister while Yuzu handles that cat really shows their different personalities even without their brother around

Watching the Karakura Superheroes try to look cool while failing is the kind of comedy this show needs, especially since the actual plot is getting so dark and intense right now

The whole vibe of this felt like one of those weird manga side stories and seeing the kids from the shop actually show off their skills against those hollows was a nice change of pace

I usually skip filler, but this one actually felt okay because it gave the Kurosaki sisters a moment to shine. Yuzu finding that cat Raku was sweet and Karin showing off her spiritual awareness reminded me that she has a lot of potential. Don Kanonji is still annoying as hell, but the way he treats the kids is actually kind of wholesome

It is hilarious that Jinta keeps getting his shorts pulled down in the middle of fighting spirits and that weird bandage on his butt is such a random thing to include in an episode about a cat

Don Kanonji popping up with his ridiculous poses and the whole Karakura Superheroes squad made for a weirdly funny break from the heavy Soul Society stuff and Ururu and Jinta are surprisingly good in a fight

I think seeing Karin and Yuzu do their own thing without Ichigo was actually pretty refreshing and the way Karin just deals with the spirits like a total pro made me like her way more

Don Kanonji posing while Karin does all the actual work fighting hollows is the most consistent thing about his character and it never gets old

EPISODE CONTEXT

Episode 33 lands squarely between two narrative-driven stretches — following the conclusion of the 'Stars and the Stray' events and preceding the pivotal 'Tragedy of Dawn,' which returns to the core storyline with significant momentum. This is a standalone filler episode with no bearing on the main plot, functioning as a comedic breather before the series ramps back up. Fans marathoning toward the next major arc can safely skip this without missing any continuity.
