I totally didn't see Nanao ending up babysitting a zanpakuto spirit, that threw me for a loop. But honestly, that quiet scene where they're just together, it made me think maybe she's finally letting her guard down and letting a bit of that dramatic, emotional bond all the Soul Reapers have with their spirits develop.
