I like the spirit designs, but seeing the old man Yamamoto stuck behind a wall for so long is starting to drag the pace down a bit.

Muramasa is actually a decent villain for a non-canon character and his powers over the swords are genuinely scary to think about

I love seeing the actual designs of the zanpakutō spirits and seeing them stand around as real people is such a cool touch for a filler story

Kenpachi treats this whole zanpakuto rebellion like a playground and he just wants to swing his sword at the biggest spirits he can find while everyone else handles the technical stuff

I never thought I'd get so invested in seeing all the side captains push themselves to the absolute limit trying to shatter that barrier, but man, watching them struggle actually made me feel a real sense of urgency. It makes me wonder if they'll even be able to breach it, or if this is just setting them up for a dramatic failure.

Fighting scenes for the Kyoraku and Ukitake parts looked surprisingly good for a filler episode, and you have to wonder if the old man is going to burn the whole place down once he gets free

Yamamoto being stuck behind that barrier for so long is actually kind of stressful but Ichigo getting there means we might finally see the head captain in action in the next one

I was not expecting Katen Kyokotsu to look like that but the way those two women interact with Kyoraku is so perfect for his character and fighting style

Those kids representing Sogyo no Kotowari are actually pretty creepy in a fight and seeing Ukitake have to deal with them made the rescue mission feel much more personal than the other battles

Watching Kenpachi take on Tenken and Gonryomaru at the same time is so typical for him and he looks like he is actually having fun for once while everyone else is stressing about the rescue mission

The way Ichigo just blitzed Kazeshini and made it to the barrier so fast shows how much stronger he is getting lately and now we just need him to break the old man out

Yoruichi just completely outclassing Haineko and Tobiume was great to see because she did not even break a sweat taking those two down and showing off that speed again

It is wild seeing Ichigo just blow right through Kazeshini like he was nothing, but the highlight for me was definitely the tag team with Yoruichi, and this arc does a decent job showing off the zanpakuto designs even if it is filler, and I really want to see Yamamoto finally cut loose now that they found where he is hidden away

Katen Kyokotsu and Sogyo no Kotowari actually look and act like their owners and I think seeing the captains fight their own spirits is easily the coolest part of this whole rebellion arc

Muramasa's got me so torn; he's causing pure chaos, yet that quiet loneliness clinging to him genuinely gets under my skin. I kept thinking about what Muramasa's true motives could be and his hidden past with the Captain Commander, even as Ichigo was going all out against those spirits. There’s got to be a much deeper, more tragic story behind him than we’ve seen so far, and I'm desperate to know it.

I was genuinely shocked to see Yamamoto, of all people, needing a rescue; it just makes Muramasa seem terrifyingly powerful if he can take down someone like the Captain Commander. I mean, after everything we've seen, I really thought Yamamoto was practically invincible.

I know this episode was mostly travel and getting everyone ready, but honestly, seeing all those captains gearing up for what's next? It gave me chills, like they finally understood the gravity of the situation and it’s about to go down for real.

I mean, yeah, the animation felt a little off in some spots, but I gotta say, seeing Haineko and Tobiume bickering again just cracked me up, it's such a classic dynamic that always brings a smile even amidst all the serious zanpakuto stuff happening. It really reminds me why I love how they're exploring the spirits as distinct characters, even if it feels a bit slow sometimes.

I was getting so fed up with Kazeshini's whole deal, honestly, so Ichigo just *shattering* him was such a cathartic moment for me, like, finally. It makes me wonder just how intense this main confrontation is going to get if that's just the warm-up.

That brawl with Kazeshini had me gripping my seat, Ichigo just kept getting pushed to his limits, but then seeing that massive barrier shimmer into existence? My stomach dropped realizing just how truly dire things have gotten for the Soul Society, it's way worse than I imagined.

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting deep in Bleach's extended filler stretch, Episode 246 picks up directly from the prior episode's revelation of Yamamoto's whereabouts and throws the cast into an original rescue mission. It bridges into the next episode, which continues escalating the conflict and the challenges facing the Soul Reapers. Viewers following the canon story can skip this without losing any continuity, but those invested in the filler arc will find it advancing the central conflict at a solid clip.
