I'm really struggling to grasp why Byakuya would ever align himself with Muramasa; it completely goes against his character as I know it. This betrayal just has me reeling, and I can't shake the feeling that Muramasa's true intentions are far more sinister than we realize, or perhaps Byakuya has a hidden agenda himself.
