Ichigo's fierce protectiveness of Chad, even before he knew about the spirit world, just blew me away in this flashback; it really cemented for me that his loyalty is just ingrained, not something he learned. And that whole bit with Mizuiro and the 'chord' was so unexpectedly deep, showing how intertwined their lives already were, which makes their later battles side-by-side feel even more fated.
