Giant trees disappearing into the dark is so creepy and those Menos Grande look massive down there

I actually really liked seeing Ashido show up and save Rukia because his mask looks so intimidating and he seems way more hardened than the guys back in Soul Society

i am not really feeling this filler trip in the woods because it feels like a total distraction from the actual mission and the pace has slowed down too much

rukia looked like she was in real trouble until that guy with the hollow mask showed up, and honestly his combat skills look pretty sharp for a filler character

learning where the gillians actually live was cool because the scale of that underground forest makes hueco mundo feel massive
rauru's avatar

the enemies in the woods feel like such weak hollows compared to the arrancars so the tension is kind of gone when ichigo is on screen

i heard kubo actually wanted this forest part in the manga and you can tell because the soul reaper with the mask fits the style perfectly it is wild to think about a guy just living in the hollow world for decades killing monsters every single day while the rest of the soul society just forgot he even existed down there

how is this ashido guy even down there because he has a cool mask, and his fighting style seems way more rugged than a normal reaper

rukia getting trapped alone against those gillians while the others were lost was actually pretty tense and that whole underground forest feels very claustrophobic

ichigo really needs to learn something other than getsuga tensho because fighting these weak hollows in the forest is getting repetitive

i know this is technically filler but seeing the woods where all the gillians hang out adds so much to the setting and it feels like a totally different world under the sand

that masked soul reaper jumping in to save rukia from the gillians was pretty cool and it makes sense that someone would be stuck down there in the woods after all these years

Ashido is such a cool addition and even though he is not in the manga he fits the world perfectly. The mystery of his past in the forest is really interesting

The action is okay I guess, but fighting these minor hollows feels pointless when Aizen is the real threat. This whole detour is just dragging out the story and slowing things down

It is funny how Rukia is an elite fighter but she gets kidnapped by a random guy in a mask and the group is too busy walking to notice deathly slow pacing

I was wondering when the pacing would slow down and here is the filler arc. Seeing Rukia get so annoyed that Ashido wouldnt stop carrying her around like a piece of luggage was great

The atmosphere in the forest is actually really spooky and seeing those Menos everywhere makes Hueco Mundo feel way more dangerous than just a big empty desert. Ashido has a really interesting design

Nel and her brothers are always the best part of these episodes and their energy is exactly what I need during this slow trek through the sand. They make the filler way more bearable for me

I know people usually hate filler episodes, but this Forest of Menos stuff actually feels pretty interesting because of the setting. Seeing all those massive trees that are actually just the heads of Menos is super creepy and atmospheric. Ashido is a total mystery, and I really want to know how a Soul Reaper survived down there for so long

Fighting these random hollows feels like a waste of time and everyone just wants them to get to Las Noches already. The forest looks cool but the action is just against weaklings

EPISODE CONTEXT

Falling in the midst of the Hueco Mundo infiltration stretch, this filler episode follows the group's battle against the sand guardian Runuganga and diverts them into the Forest of Menos before the main storyline resumes. It bridges the gap between the desert encounters and the deeper, more consequential confrontations awaiting inside Las Noches. Viewers focused solely on canon progression can skip this without losing any plot threads.
