I still cannot believe Patras really thought he was doing something while Aizen just sat back and laughed because that Hogyoku was totally fake the whole time

That reveal with Ulquiorra being alive the whole time made the entire struggle of the last few episodes feel like a massive prank

You can tell Orihime is hiding her true intentions from Aizen even after he tried to break her spirit with that Hogyoku reveal

Aizen using Kyoka Suigetsu to make everyone think the Hogyoku was stolen by some random Arrancar is a massive power move

It sucks that this is filler because Aizen messing with reality like that feels like it should have been part of the main story

Patros really thought he was doing something big and then it turns out he was a pawn in a game he didn't even understand

My skin crawled when it turned out the whole Hogyoku theft was an illusion and we were all being played by Aizen

It was a nice change of pace to watch the mod souls pull off a team plan against Patros since the fights are usually just one guy swinging a sword

I know people say to skip the filler, but Aizen just proved to me why he is the biggest threat in this whole show by tricking the characters and the viewers at the same time. The way he just sat there and let Patros think he was in control before revealing the illusion was cold, and it makes Orihime's secret plan way more tense

I can't believe Aizen faked Ulquiorra dying and everything simply to mess with everyone's heads like that

Renji usually goes it alone, so seeing him work with Ririn and the other mod souls to take down Patros was pretty cool for a filler fight

Seeing Kyoka Suigetsu used to fake an entire character death is such a huge display of power and it makes Aizen look like he is playing on a completely different level than everyone else

The way the music cuts out when the trap is revealed is perfect and it really captures that feeling of dread when you realize Aizen has been in control from the very start

Aizen is the only villain who can make a filler episode feel this tense, and seeing him explain the trap while everyone realizes they were fighting air is such a ruthless moment

Renji really needs to stop procrastinating and start fighting harder because Aizen is out here playing chess while everyone else is playing checkers and it shows how far behind they are compared to him

That moment when the illusion breaks and you realize Aizen was just toying with them the whole time is scary and it makes you realize how powerless the Soul Reapers are right now

I could not believe it when Ulquiorra just reappeared like nothing happened and I really hate how easily Aizen manipulates everyone but you have to respect how he plans every single detail for this mission

I honestly have such mixed feelings about this being a filler episode because the reveal with Aizen and Kyoka Suigetsu felt so massive and it is hard to believe it does not count for the main story. Watching everyone celebrate after they thought they beat Ulquiorra only for Aizen to reveal it was all an illusion was brutal and it made me feel so uneasy

It feels a bit weird for this to be filler when Aizen is doing stuff this big and seeing everyone get fooled so easily makes them look a little bit incompetent honestly

I actually fell for the trap and thought Ulquiorra was done but Aizen is way too smart for these guys and his smug face at the end was a frustrating reveal for me

EPISODE CONTEXT

Positioned deep within the broader Arrancar saga, Episode 137 is a filler installment that arrives after Episode 136's revelation of rogue Arrancar faction activity. While it doesn't advance the canon storyline, it expands on Aizen's menacing presence and the escalating threat level heading into the series' middle stretch. Canon viewers can skip without losing continuity, but it attempts to bridge the tension between earlier Arrancar encounters and the larger confrontations still ahead.
