I really liked seeing Ikkaku get all hot-blooded and intense while coaching those kids because it showed how his battle spirit translates into something other than just hunting down hollows

Mizuho going absolutely wild over Ikkaku was hysterical and Keigo looked like he wanted to crawl into a hole and die the entire time

I know most people skip the filler episodes in Bleach, but I always stop for this one because Ikkaku is such a loud and funny guy when he is out of his element. Watching him train those students with his crazy 11th Division methods was hilarious, and the look on Urahara’s face when he saw the whole kendo mess was my highlight.

The way Ikkaku gets so weirdly intense about a high school kendo tournament is exactly why he is such a great character and this episode really nailed his personality

Usually filler feels like a waste of time but seeing Ikkaku take over the kendo club was the kind of side story that actually makes the world feel more fun

That final kendo match felt way more intense than it had any right to be and Ikkaku was coaching that kid like his life depended on it

Hearing him call Yumichika unmanly for not wanting to join the club was such a funny interaction and it shows their dynamic perfectly

I usually skip every filler episode in Bleach because they can get so boring but this one with Ikkaku is actually good and funny. I could not stop laughing when he put on that wig to hide his head and then started screaming at the kendo club. It really showed that he actually has a heart under all that aggression though.

I actually felt bad for Mizuho having to deal with Ikkaku trying to pay back his debt by winning a high school kendo tournament for her

Ikkaku behaved like a total drill sergeant for those high school kids and he really does not know how to hold back even a little bit

Urahara had such a funny reaction to the whole kendo situation, and his face during those scenes was worth the watch.

There was something actually kind of nice about Ikkaku showing a little bit of respect for that kid Shinji and his fighting spirit at the end

Yumichika refusing to help out because he thought the kendo club was beneath him was such a classic move for him

I didn't expect to enjoy Ikkaku being a bully to a bunch of high schoolers in the name of kendo training as much as I did

The wig Ikkaku wore was the funniest thing in the world and he looks so ridiculous trying to blend in at a high school

Everything about Ikkaku trying to hide his head while coaching those kids is comedy and it makes the filler feel much more tolerable

It is hilarious how Ikkaku is a literal killing machine, but he still gets bullied by Keigo's sister and ends up caring way too much about winning a school trophy

I normally cannot stand filler arcs like the Bount stuff, but this one-off episode with Ikkaku coaching kendo was actually great and seeing him lose his mind over being called bald while trying to act like a teacher in that hairpiece was hilarious, and I really like when the show stops being serious and lets characters like him just be idiots

You really get a sense of how much Ikkaku loves a good fight even if it is just a bunch of teenagers with wooden sticks and no actual spiritual power

That scene where the students were terrified of their new coach really captured why Ikkaku is such an interesting character to watch when he isn't just fighting

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting firmly in a stretch of filler content around episode 133 of 366, this episode follows a similarly lighthearted standalone featuring Hitsugaya coaching a soccer match with Karin and precedes an episode centered on Yumichika's culinary misadventures. The series is essentially running a character spotlight mini-arc, rotating through Shinigami stationed in the human world and exploring them in comedic, low-stakes scenarios before the main narrative resumes.
