It was an epic battle until they played that funky ass animation of Mars and Asta on some sneak attack walk over to Fana during her rapid fire balls..

Watching the entire sequence between Fana and Mars in the past was much more emotional than when it was shown the first time; which felt pretty watered down in comparison to the one shown here. They did reuse some of the animation, although it helped me remember that sequence since it was so long ago.

I did not expect Ladros to go down like that after a volleyball game with Asta and Fana?? It felt pretty underwhelming when we were shown how unbeatable he was with Mars, a fellow lab member like Fana.. this series should set some baseline for magical powers or do some power scaling..

The subtitles on Crunchyroll were totally out of sync and it made the big emotional speech between Mars and Fana way harder to follow

Asta yelling at Mars to live was exactly what the situation needed, and it totally changed the tone of the whole fight

Asta jumping in to stop Fana from blowing herself up caught me off guard because he just refuses to let anyone die even an enemy

Everyone working together to get Asta into position was cool, and it was nice to see Fanzell actually have a plan that worked

Mars looked a little weird in some shots and the pacing felt slow at the start but that ending with the promise was sweet

I really felt for Fana and Mars when they finally got to talk and I was so glad that Asta didn't just kill her but helped them find each other again even if some of the animation for the flame spells looked a bit sketchy the emotional weight of their reunion carried the whole episode for me and showed how much they still care

Whoa, I didn't see that coming! Finral's portals and Vanessa's string magic to just *yeet* Asta at the spirit was such a wild and brilliant move, and honestly, it just felt so perfectly Black Bulls, making me grin like crazy at their teamwork.

The flame effects looked kind of rough during the big fight but the flashbacks were beautiful and the story made up for the visual dips

I loved seeing Mars finally get to Fana and that hug made me tear up after everything they went through in that lab

Ladros getting taken out by his own power being reflected back at him was a satisfying way to end that fight and Asta really showed his growth there

Watching Asta nullify that massive explosion from the Salamander spirit was satisfying and it was cool to see him and Mars actually working together as friends to save her

I actually started tearing up when Mars realized who she was, because that flashback to their childhood has been weighing on him for so long, and seeing Fana finally lose the third eye and return to her normal self was such a huge moment for their characters, and it really made up for the fire animation looking pretty rough

Asta screaming at Mars to save the girl he loves instead of dying really showed how much he values life and seeing him use his swords to nullify that self destruct showed his grit

The animation on the fire magic looked really weird and distracted from the emotional scenes with Fana. You also have to sit through way too many flashbacks of things we already saw in earlier episodes

I couldn't get over how Asta jumped in and saved everyone from that self destruction spell. He always knows exactly what to say to get people to stop being depressed

The reunion for Mars and Fana was sweet but you can really tell the animation budget was struggling with all those fire effects. All the flashbacks to the Diamond Kingdom also made it feel like the plot was dragging

EPISODE CONTEXT

Sitting at episode 61 of 170, 'The Promised World' lands deep in the Witches' Forest Arc, directly following the fallout from 'Defectors' Atonement' where fractured alliances and emerging threats reshaped the landscape. This episode functions as a pivotal escalation point—cementing character motivations and raising the stakes before the arc's climactic developments. The groundwork laid here feeds directly into the revelations and confrontations that define the arc's closing stretch.
