This episode is really intense and suspenseful. If you love action and suspense anime, this is highly recommended. The start of this episode is already out of the box. The action flow and how they collaborate on the scientific thing is mind-blowing worth watching, and it's 10/10.

While the intensity remains intact, it does not have the same punch that it had earlier in the series. The tone is still crazy wild, with some very graphic scenes of violence, and there are still many meathead moments throughout.

Baki’s just vibing through fights, lowkey bored and kinda lost. For a premiere, it hits different—super reflective. The stripped‑down visuals really show his ‘meh’ energy and make you feel that slump.

The lack of engagement is actually an appropriate narrative choice for a first episode, riling up the viewer to actually demand action in the next one. Really appreciate the subtle psychological undertones here.

The first few minutes did a good job giving us a quick recap or introduction of the protagonist, like the display of insane movements as some know the anime for. But judging from this episode, it looks like this instalment can stand alone if you're just in it for the action.

Hmm interesting first episode, not bad but not so great either. It started out well with a short Baki spotlight, but the second half of the episode felt draggy. They could have executed that better.

The art and animation doesn't fail to make this anime as distinct as it can be from others. Baki's character writing is also consistent from last season, although I can see that the exaggerations, visuals or story-wise, aren't for everyone.

Not punch-heavy, but loaded with presence. Slow burn, but intriguing enough to hook you. I'll need time to get used to the animation on this one though, so much eye contact!

Wastes no time shifting the tone of the series. The energy is heavier, almost mythic. Animation is well, interesting? Definitely. I'll definitely have a laugh with this series

What an unsettling opener. The atmosphere feels ancient and dangerous, like something that shouldn’t exist has just stepped into the present. It’s more ominous than explosive. Animation wise, it's nothing like anything I've watched before lol

The opening immediately leans into legacy conflict. The exaggerated physique and framing are consistent with the franchise’s style. It’s intense, though not subtle.

The way they stare at each other?? So gay, every one of them is gay (this is NOT an insult)

I thought it was just martial arts. Well it is martial arts PLUS psychological warfare PLUS very committed eye contact lmao. I’m confused, but intrigued kinda

Baki drifts through fights, bored and seeming to lack direction. For a first episode, this is actually reflective. Some scenes show minimalist visuals, directly showing the viewer Baki's ennui.

I guess the only real enemy here was the uncontrollable yawn. The first episode was quite entertaining, and going in blind was actually a good decision because it kept everything surprising.

The art style was unfamiliar and new to me, but the story was intriguing enough to pique my interest. I really want to see what happens next. Also, what a banger opening!

I had no idea what was going on, but the first episode was definitely interesting. Watching this without knowing anything about the plot felt like jumping off a building—not knowing whether someone would catch you or if you’d be smashed into pieces. Great episode, though!

The scientists seem really passionate about their project, which makes me wonder about their background and how that interest came to be. It seems a bigger threat is coming, which will challenge the characters further.

The way the champion was immediately humbled was quite funny. The first half shows the audience how strong Baki is comparatively, literally facing off against what formal competitions deem as the strongest.

A strong introduction to the very unique premise of this series, in which there seems to be budding tension and higher stakes!

EPISODE CONTEXT

Watch this episode for its intriguing, intense atmosphere and Baki's reflective character study, but expect a slower pace and less overt action.
