Arpeggio of Blue Steel -Ars Nova-

A fitting end to the season. The final confrontation is as big as you would expect and the character resolutions feel earned. Iona's moment with Kongou near the end is the emotional highlight of the whole series.

The upgraded I-401 gets put to the test and the results are impressive. Takao's situation provides some unexpected lighter moments that balance out the intensity. Kongou's arc takes a sharp turn at the end.

A heavy episode. The emotional weight is the most the show has carried so far and it mostly handles it well. The kind of episode that makes you sit quietly for a moment after it ends.

Kongou finally gets a proper face to face moment and she is more compelling than her previous appearances suggested. The conversation between her and Gunzou is the highlight of the episode.

A busier episode with a lot happening at once. Some genuinely funny moments mixed in with the serious stuff. The show balances the two reasonably well without one undermining the other.

Things get more complicated at the home base. Multiple characters with competing motivations in one place makes for an interesting episode even without a major battle. The tension is more personal here.

One of the stronger episodes. The situation with Haruna and Makie is handled with more care than expected and the emotional beats land. Good to see the show doing something different with its characters here.

A quieter episode that takes its time. The visit to Yokosuka has a reflective feel to it and works well as a breather between battles. Small but effective character moment for Gunzou and Iona.

Arguably the best battle so far. The tactics are sharp and the emotional undercurrent running through the whole thing gives it more weight than a standard action episode. Really well executed.

Political pressure meets naval threat and the episode handles both without losing pace. Gunzou stays composed throughout and the ending leaves things nicely unsettled.

The first proper battle and it delivers. Gunzou's tactics under pressure make him worth following and the tension throughout is well built. A good sign for what the show can do.

Solid setup. The world building drops you straight into a bleak situation and Gunzou and Iona's dynamic is immediately interesting. The CGI takes a minute to get used to but the premise pulls you in regardless.

Is this worth it to watch? Here are my points to consider: Do you like ship girls? Do you enjoy military themes mixed with sci-fi elements? If so, this anime might be right up your alley Ah the CGI, if you are a strict 2D person then this anime is made completely in 3D CGI. Give it some chance, the animation isn't sloppy but there are some faces that looked really odd considering it's an old anime You want a complete story of the whole crew? Want to see their initial exploits? then too bad, those things aren't shown in this anime. It does show the origin story of the MC but none of his initial exploits Starting from ep 3 it deviates from the OG source The finale episode felt lacking, it has more story to tell and I would even recommend watching the 2 movies to get a satisfying ending. If you know the song Savior of Song by Nano feat. MY FIRST STORY then that song is the OP of this anime. Along with this memorable OP, it also features a great selection of soundtracks that enhance the atmosphere and impact of its major scenes. Fan service you ask? Yep, this anime has fan service but it isn't on the level of the manga. The anime keeps it relatively mild, mostly consisting of swimsuit scenes and a few questionable camera angles.

The sci-fi elements is turned up to 11 and the action reaches an entirely new level. This is easily the most flashy episode of the series and it is quite fitting considering that it serves as the final episode. Compared to the past episodes, the CGI and animation are noticeably polished, delivering some of the best visual moments in the series. Considering the story has deviated from the manga, the conclusion feels somewhat lacking. Many mysteries remain unanswered, particularly regarding the side of the Fleet of Fog, the Admiralty Code and their origins leaving some aspects of the story feeling incomplete. P.S. After finishing the anime, I would recommend watching the movie (there are 2 movies so start with this one), as it provides an alternative conclusion and offers a different perspective on how the story could have ended. The OG source which is the manga is still ongoing but it is on hiatus since 2024.

The episode starts with an impressive display of skills and power, immediately showcasing how much the Blue Fleet has evolved. Compared to their earlier battles, their fighting style has become more flexible and creative, showing how big of an upgrade they have gained. Another important piece of information about the Fleet of Fog is revealed in this episode. However, if you have been paying attention to Kongo's title during her introduction, this revelation may not come as a complete surprise. With the next episode being the finale, there are still several mysteries left unanswered. Adding to the anticipation is another unexpected development happening on Kongo's side, leaving plenty of questions about how the story will conclude.

The episode title is indeed ominous and it had me on the edge of my seat anticipating what the ultimate price would be. It delivers several unexpected twists and reveals some surprising development on the Fleet of Fog side. The soundtrack once again does an excellent job of enhancing the atmosphere, perfectly matching the tone of each important scene and making the emotional moments more impactful. With what happened on Kongo's side, the next episode has become even more anticipated. I'm very interested to see how these new developments will affect the story moving forward.

What a suspenseful episode from start to finish. Unlike Haruna and Kirishima's battle, this episode doesn't focus on showcasing the Fleet of Fog's advanced sci-fi weaponry. Instead, it emphasizes overwhelming firepower just as what the initial order of the Admiralty code for the Fleet of Fog members in the first place. There are still some small display of fan service in the episode but they don't ruin the overall experience. The animation quality remains solid, especially during the action sequences, and the visuals help deliver the impact of the battle. I'm not sure whether Kongo had planned everything that happened at the end but the twist was definitely a major surprise and left me eager to see what happens next.

If you think it's going to jump into action right away then you haven't been listening to Gunzou on the previous episode. This is a more informative episode that expands the world, but while it answers a few questions, it still leaves many of the series' mysteries unresolved. Although it comes a bit late, the layout of Iwo Jima is finally revealed. The episode also explains a rather a simple explanation for why the Fleet of Fog chose female forms for their Mental Models and also a small information about the Admiralty Code that the Fleet of Fog follows. More importantly, Kongo delivers several intriguing lines that hint at larger mysteries surrounding the Fleet of Fog and their purpose.

This is a relaxing episode with added fan service that provides a welcome break from the intense action. As hinted at the end of the previous episode, Hyuga takes on the role of both the administrator and mechanic of Gunzou's stronghold, which is quite surprising considering their "explosive" past. The episode also explores Gunzou's ideals regarding what should happen once their mission is complete. In my opinion, his outlook is naive, especially considering everything he experienced in the previous episode. Given humanity's actions on the past episode, it doesn't seem like people are ready for the kind of future he hopes to achieve. P.S. The change of visuals in the ED was pretty amusing 😆 and nope, this isn't a filler episode

This episode is filled with drama, action and suspense. It provides meaningful character development for Haruna and to some extent with Kirishima 😅 making both characters more human like in comparison with their initial appearance. The soundtrack does an excellent job of setting the mood for each scene, enhancing both the emotional and suspenseful moments. Along with Ep 3 and 4, this episode also highlights the darker side of humanity, showing how desperation can drive people to stoop to such lows. The ending does a great job of building anticipation for the next episode. With Gunzou heading toward their own base and an intriguing scene with Takao in the final scene.
